Joke of the day Part II

PC at it's best

With more and more Anthrax being delivered in letters, what do you guys think about the threat of exposure?

They say it's easy to detect and treat. Do we believe it?

They say it's not terrorist related. Do you think that's true?

Are you guys gonna let your kids trick-or-treat this year?

How come they don't have Anthrax sniffing dogs in the post offices?

Well

Well,I hate to say it. But I think it is a over the edge right winger out to get the liberal media and of course the Democrats.

Anthrax is NOT contagious,it can occur naturally in soil and animal hides,it can be in 99% of all cases be treated successfully with antibiotics if caught early enough, and is quite easy to detect.

There are different types of Anthrax, the one that has been detected here is being traced to a type used and distributed for research from Iowa, here in the states.

This is really not a good mass murder type of Bio-weapon. It can be detected easily and is also treated very easily. This makes me think it is some crackpot using the terror card for his own adgenda.....

One of the researchers at work showed me the page on anthrax in his bacteria book, it even told how to raise it, it's a cinch. An average of 10 people per year die from it in the US, main source of infection is wool rugs imported from the Far East. Salmonella or even a staph infection is a greater risk. Anyone notice the media has stopped showing the WTC ruins now that they have anthrax to play with? I'm starting to wonder if the media is our biggest terrorist, they sure are doing a good job striking fear into many Americans.

My dog could do it

My dog could sniff out the anthrax if you attached a porkchop to it or tied a duck on it. :D  :p

Did I mention my dog likes to duck hunt and eat porkchops. :D :)

I do think that the media has alot to do with everyone worrying about this anthrax thing. I work 3rd shift and when I get home in the morning all I see on the morning shows on all 3 channels is something about the anthrax scare. I'm to the point I would rather watch the teletubies before I go to bed than hear more B. S. about the anthrax.

Maybe I could tie a porkchop on the teletubies and the dog would eat them. :D :D :D :D

Here's an inside report from this charter member of the vast right wing conspiracy -- We were caught off guard by this one... . :D:D:eek::p

All joking around aside, I think it is terror related, but CF may be on to something with the twisted scientist angle. Another possibility: subterfuge for something bigger, at least to the perp's line of thinking. The idea that anyone would do this is enough to make one want to crack heads. I'm concerned with widespread panic. That's how rights and hard won freedoms are lost. Not because one group or another takes them away -- but because they are voluntarily given away, with the blind hope that security will be achieved for all. Reminds me of the old proverb: May you live in interesting times

Clasic case of media trying to scare us and put fear into people. I can't stand it when they show those *******s over there burning are flag. The media knows that will get the american people even more p!ssed off.

Regardless, anyone caught spreading anthrax, real or not, should be proscecuted to the fullest extent. Looking at some of the targets, I get the feeling that some groups are feeling left out of the media spotlight and using this opportunity to cash in. We need this $$$$ like another hole in the head.

What bugs me about this whole mess... each envelope of powder disrupts business and costs companies and tax payers more money. Maybe that's all the bad guys want.

Bob - I wasn't really making a joke out of the dog thing. I know that dogs probably are at risk too, but if they were immunized against anthrax, if that is even possible, they could stop the flow of tainted mail and even make it easier to catch the culprits. Suppose a guy drops an envelope containing anthrax in the mail slot at the post office, and a dog that was trained to smell anthrax was there near the slot. The dog could tell his partner and they could nab the guy as he walks out the door. Is that too far fetched?

Doc

Doc, I read about a company the makes electronic sniffers for biological materials including anthrax. Only problem is it takes a trained technician, costs $30k and with the recent developments is on back order for two months.

Iron your mail. They say if you find a peace of mail you're not sur about that you should iron it will a regular iron. It will kill the bacteria, not to mention make the paper soggy.

Obviously, they don't have enough to do any serious harm. So they try to scare and intimidate the media.

That's supposed to scare and intimidate us into not responding, or not acting against them.

Little do they know...

Major PIA

That our newest call now, suspicious mail received. Averaging several per tour, major PIA and manpower drain. All received so far have been nothing but credit card apps. and junk mail. I won't even go into the procedure for opened mail that contains a powder substance. Fortunately, we have not seen that here as of yet.

Article I saw said to iron mail between a moist piece fo material. Also that the microwave may not be totally effective due to dry heat. Moist heat is the key.

Whether it's a crackpot of our own or from terrorists abroad, I take it seriously. But I still go about my daily life of work and play. And I still think about sex every ten seconds! I must be ok. :D

What I'm wondering about is, why were we sending anthrax to Iraq in the '70s? Did it never occur to our government that those never ending terrorists in the making might some day use it against us? Why would we share with anyone our weapons of mass destruction? Why are we dependant on the most unstable corner of the world for oil or anything for that matter? Why are we even there in the first place? Have you noticed their decorated transportation? The whole population appears to be off the deep end. There's no hope in bringing any peace to the region. Never has been, never will be. They're nuts...

Last night I was watching CNN. I think it was Larry King Live with Dan Rather. They were talking about how important it was for people to not get excited about this anthrax stuff. At the same time, the marque running across the screen said that 10 million people would die from small pox, in the US.

Small pox hasn't even become an issue yet, but they're talking like it is running wild through the country.

On another news show, they were talking about how easy it would be to spread small pox. They said all the suicide idiots would have to do is infect themselves and run around giving it to everyone else.

I think our news media has gone off their respective rockers. What's the problem? Haven't they had enough to report on, so they need to advertise how exactly to kill off America, so they can have more juicy stories to tell??
