Pancakes... . Hmmmm

White flour has been refined of all its nutrients. Worms won't even eat it. It is a dead carbohydrate.

Syrup is almost all sugar of which the average American eats over a hundred pounds a year. It is absorbed through the walls of the stomach and blood glucose skyrockets calling up way too much insulin to control it. Insulin is the vehicle the body uses to store fat and the excess insulin is used to store the meals fat in the belly. There is no such thing as a beer belly. Beer bellies are caused by carbohydrates.

Most peanut butter contains partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. It don't get any worse than partially hydrogenated vegetable oil because the body doesn't know what to do with it. It is a big contributer to heart disease. Read the labels.

BBQ is mostly protein and saturated fat and your body does know what to do with these. Your ancestors didn't live to a ripe old age on low fat high carbohydrate diets. They used whole wheat flour and real butter.

Oh... and I am going to put 2 racks of spare ribs on the smoker for supper so I have to go now.

I managed a restaurant in Colorado for a number of years and I have seen some really strange things put on pancakes. Cottage cheese with canned peaches, mustard and cinnimon:eek: , and even refried beans with cheese... ... . those seem to come to mind the most. Milk and sugar is popular with Japanese tourists. Myself, just the old fashion way, plenty of butter and good quality real maple syrup!

Holy smokes, I ALMOST do this only without the cream cheese, and no rolling. But I have NEVER heard of ANYONE else doing it with grape jelly other then me.

Actually I eat one pancake per month. My wife makes an 8 inch cake from Montana Wheat flour out of Three Forks MT. I smother it in real butter and "Log Cabin" syrup. 2 eggs and four bacon completes it.

tpcdrafting... I have microwaveable BBQ in the fridge almost all of the time, in case anyone stops by. Gonna do a Brisket over night tonight. Bought 5 of them yesterday.

I havn't been down to the 25 cents a beer happy hour at the "Smokehouse Saloon" yet, but I will.

OK, I'm going to go off topic a bit.

I make breakfast burritos. Scrambled egg, sour cream, salsa, roll it up in a tortilla. Yummmm. :D

My wife thought I was nuts till she tasted one. :D

Sickos:p

I use to be a fan of Log Cabin-until they went plastic.

Then i went to Mrs. Butterworths, glass jar. Now she is plastic!

Real MS if i can get it, otherwise just some cheap stuff, as it is all crap.

Put my food in glass jars please!!

Anyone eat Scrapple out there?

TxDieselKid,

yes they have BBQ else where. Not always good or passable, but when your the only game in town, you can call it whatever you like.

Best BBQ I ever had was a little place in Phoneix called "Honey Bears". Last time I went there it wasn't as good. Think someone else took it over.

Just finished cooking up a batch of BBQ sauce for on the ribs. Yep there is some brown sugar in it. I can't win them all.

TxDieselKid... I would be quite timid about serving BBQ Brisket to a Texan. Thats where it originated. I am going to make a trip down there next winter and sample every BBQ place I see.

Sled Puller... A Real Maple Syrup shortage in Western PA? When I lived in Western Penna I could buy real Maple syrup most every place. A lot of it was in Tin Cans.

WDaniels... According to my "Mile Post" Alaska is full of BBQ's. I hope to come up there and sample some of them in August and September.

Some people claim there is Alder for smoking here in Wyoming but I am still chasing it.

I like grape syrup on mine, but I have never been able to buy it. My mother used to make the syrup from frozen grape juice concentrate and pectin.

My grandmother used to make me those 8" pancakes. Cooked in lard in an 8" iron skillet. Man! Did she cook some good food! Everything was made with suet.
