V 10 ford Vs my ETH Cummins Tow story

Brake controller quagmire!

I'm in the market for a camper and seen a couple of the S&S campers for the first time, I've looked at the lance and Fleetwood campers but the S&S seems really well built. If I could get some input from any of you that had or has some experience with these campers let me hear it. Thanks

There's actually a few members on the board who own one. I researched slide-ins for a year and the S&S was top of the line. I was ready to purchase when my wife said NO WAY TOO SMALL. needless to say I have a fiver on order. Slide-ins are great but like anything else it comes down to preference. Guys here will boast about Lance, Bigfoot, etc. . I have seen them all and their all right they are well built campers and it comes down to what catches your eye. For me the S&S was the best.

I have owned my S&S since the fall of '96 and it has been a great camper. Every thing still works and it has never had to go back to the dealer.

My wife and I slept in it several nights in a row pushing 20 degrees below zero and got by very well.

When I bought the S&S I had never even heard of a big foot and I never saw one until last summer. What the hell is a big foot? I know what a Lance is. Its that over advertised truck camper you see in every magazine you pick up.

SSchroll... Just what was the problem with your S&S and what is so great about the Lance??

no camper yet

Don't really have a camper yet, unless you can count the 6. 5 ft. mini camper I have now. It's 20+yrs. and made with stick and tin. The only good thing is it only weighs 900 lbs. since it's bare and made for a mini truck. I don't even know it's back there. Looking at getting a bigfoot or northern-lite next year. Looked at some used stick and tin and wouldn't even touch one of those. All pretty when they're new, but then a few years later,YUCK. Might even buy the northern made for a mini and mount it on a fiberglass utility body so I can stay light and get out on the beach still.

S&S Campers?

S&S looks to be well made..... I love the slide outs, even with their extra weight, being off-center and all. Be careful of Bigfoot, though. They are very well built, but some models have under-floor storage which effectively reduces the interior height. My Lance is seven feet two inches, floor to ceiling. That is fine as I am six-two and I miss the A/C, etc. The Bigfoot of a buddy of mine is but six-five inside..... that little difference makes his feel much more closed in... . and I just miss the A/C... . If I bend a tad. I sure do like the construction, though... . All this is academic, anyway... . your wife will decide... :p
