What does this DO?

I was just putting in my SILVERSTARS and could not figure out what the sensor attached to the inside bottom bolt is? The bolt is the bottom one under the hood on the drivers side. Could these be the outside air temp. for the over head?

yeah but you never know nowadays. Could have been some hydraulic canuter valve switch to turn the muffler ON & OFF
