I purchased a campaign lift pump and was looking through the paperwork that came with it. It showed two different part numbers... one that ended in 46 and one that ended in 47. One was for "12 VCD" and the other was for "24 VCD". My thought was this was 12 valve and 24 valve... but everyone on here referenced the part number for the 12 VCD. Anyone have any idea?

Sounds like they were made on Taiwan, and the translators didn't know the difference between 12 vdc and 12 vcd...

Gotta love a global economy... :p

No joke. My Dad bought one of those China made 4x4 diesel tractors (Jimna) and the instructions for the thing are TERRIBLE and make no sense at all.

I saw serial #'s and build dates that were close to my VP, indicating the pump was junk and needed replaced, of course only on bus or emergency vehicle. Ignorance being bliss, I did not comfirm my fear and immedeately threw the inst's in the trash.

I wish I could go read mine now--- Are ya shure your not pullin the same stunt I do at work all the time? :-laf :-laf <parts guys love me for that>

I remember a descrepancy on 12/24 vdc, but maybe I'm the one who read it backwards... .....

Nate- I feel your pain. You unfold that chincy rice paper stuff, looks like it was typed with an old mechanical typewriter, cut out with siscors, has big words some 10th graders wouldnt know, but the structure/usage of a preskooler... .

so did I get the wrong lift pump? The part number is #4090046, but in the directions it shows this is the part for the "12 VDC application". It makes me wonder that since everyone is having problems with the "campaign lift pump", maybe we are using the wrong part. Maybe we should be using part #4090047.

Yeah... .

I have read some of the computorized Japaneese or German to English text translations. Although the product quality was top notch the instructions have been a little pretty funny and hard to understand.

I bought a new lift pump for a 2001 CD from a vendor, on arrival I noticed it was printed 24V, I also thought 24 Volt, however on calling the vendor was told the 24V meant 24 Valves.

I did think of it but forgot to mention, perhaps those pumps marked 24VDC maybe to read 24 Valves Dodge Cummin's

I finally got around to calling Cummins. They said that it stands for "12 volt direct current" or 24 volt direct current". I'm guessing that our trucks are 12 volt... but why would a bus or other vehicle be 24 volt?

Larger trucks use 24V for more power to start. BUT I thought modern 24v staring vehicles have 12v for the rest of the system-- computers/controllers, lighting, accesories, etc. Sensors and electronics are typicaly 5v (stuff i work on is 8v).

Maybe some of the "emergency vehicles" in the campain use full 24v to support the added electrical load..... ?
