Gotta Vent

Ok - 60 - 4.1 seconds - with an electric car!!

Where did this thread come from? Raised from the dead after 3 years?

Mostly I play with my 5th wheel camper and my website (see sig) and other computer stuff. I ride my bicycle for excercize and love to camp in the 5er.

My Dad used to be into historic military vehicles, and we had several, from a '44 GMC CCKW to a '71 M561 Gama Goat, with several jeeps and M37's in the middle. I got my first jeep when I was 12, and we had to do some tinkering to get it running. I drove it all over our farm until I was 15, when we sold it to a serious collecter who restored it to mint condition. Also had some big Reo's and Deuces with 1500 gallon water tanks.

After the military stuff, Dad got hot into the Binders, and we had three IH Travelall's at one time. I drove them in the winter to keep my Mustang out of the slush. We got rid of them and Dad bought a Cub to restore. After that was a '68 IH 1300 that we restored. It came from a Chicago fire dept and had 6500 original miles on it, just turned 9k. My youngest brother (18) bought a 73 IH Scout, and we have been working on that for the past year. It's getting paint sometime this week. Some pics of the binders in my Readers Rigs.

Outside of that, firearms, ATV's, and of course the Dodge.

First and foremost... even above my truck... I'm a volunteer firefighter. A Captain on a volunteer city department. We make about 350-400 calls per year. We have two engines and one rescue. Our "sister" department 15 blocks away has a new ladder quint (ladder and a pump) and two engines. We work alot together. I manage and maintain our apparatus. They are the source of my diesel beginnings.

I also work for a somewhat large construction company that builds everything from gas turbine power plants to US Army nerve agent storage facilities. Our current project is a 17 million dollar gas desulfurization plant. From this I have developed a love for heavy equipment. I'm often down at our big shop running excavators or dozers out back or down by the river. Its a lot of fun. Otherwise I'm stuck in the office there all day figuring out how to build something.

My other true love is International Cub Cadet garden tractors. Not the new ones but ones from 1961 to 1981... the ones truly build by International Harvester. I have three 1960's models and one of their best... which was the last... the 782 model. They are great and I love restoring them and using them.

I also like antique tractors and steam shows. Someday I hope to have a steam thresher and a couple of Farmalls.

PS: I like Cessnas too... my office is part of a hangar at the local airport. My work has a couple of planes and I get rides on occasion. My boss owns the company and the airport.
