What ever happened with staring an Iowa chapter?

I know last spring/summer there was quite a bit of interest in starting an Iowa chapter, but nothing for several months now. I realize it being this time of year you don't want to, but we should have a GTG here in the spring. The only guy I know from here is Michael (MMiller) and it's was warm outside last time I talked to him. Just something to think about.

I already belong to two 4x4 clubs here in Iowa. JOCCI (Jeep Outdoor Club of Central Iowa) and CI4WI (Central Iowa 4-Wheelers, Inc. ).

Well I was the one who originally started the Iowa chapter meeting that was held in Cedar Rapids but I didnt make it because I had a tragedy that day. So lets move on here and get an Iowa group up and running strong. We have plenty of guys to make it happen and Ill be happy to be the TDR contact for such a thing now that my life is somewhat returning to normal. Michael does have a mailing list and hopefully he will chime in with some words of wisdom. Cedar Rapids works well for me as a meet spot but we can move it to accomodate members. Im in the northeast corner and have a nice heated/central air cooled shop we could do our meets at too if members want to drive here and maybe we could get the MN and WI guys to come down too and then have a huge TDR meet during the summer with lots of food and beer. Im on a river so we could have fishing and camping, play in the water and mud, and I have plenty of outdoor concrete for burnouts. Im in the middle of no mans land here so we wont have to worry about laws or neighbors because my neighbor owns 2 of our beloved beasts himself and the other neighbor just loves beer. With any luck I will own a chassis dyno by summer too. If you read this and are interested in joining an Iowa chapter just post or PM a contact email address and phone number and we will get something going in the next few monthes.

I am in and I will drag Tony Welch along too. Can I suggest we get together either the 3rd or 4th weekend of March? Things get pretty crazy for me after that.

I sent an e-mail out to a list of people that Michael Miller put together. Hopefully we will get something moving. I would love to do another late spring/early summer event up in NE Iowa again too.

count me in. I am in cedar rapids (marion). If you need any info on local meeting spots here I can help. There is a new Buffalo Wildwings on Blairsferry Rd that shares a parking lot with Target, so there is plenty of parking there. IF I can help out just let me know. Cory

Words of wisdom, huh. Everybody knows I don't have too many of those... .....



I just figured out the best plan is to pick a place, then quickly afterwards pick a date. Then invite everyone we can think of, then show up. You will never pick a time or place everybody can agree on.



I'm up for something, don't know how well it will work for me this year. I just picked up some farm land, then with work it will be touch and go.



I'll get ahold of Jerry Crow in Marion, and see if he has any better ideas. Cory, we met at Boneheads resteraunt last year. Is there any places to meet with a larger parking lot? Maybe someplace that will let us do burnouts???



I just talked to RPA, and he said there is something going on in Charles City Iowa the 3rd, or maybe the 4th. I think he said they were talking about it on Cummins forum? Anybody know about that?



I'll be watching. As soon as plans are made I will send out smoke signals on the Iowa Dieselhead Registry.
