I am not looking for more power or increased boost as an answer, I know that from reading other posts. But how does it do it?

I am extrapolating that it basically fools the PCM into putting more air and fuel through the engine. But what does this do to the load on fuel pumps and turbos?

Also are there multiple companies with products called "EZ". Or is it just BD. If so there is not much information on their website about what it comes with or how to install it.

Just curious for the time being,

Ira

It is a perfect add on to any of our 24V CTD trucks. Even if you don't want any more HP the increased response and mileage alone are worth Double what a EZ sell for. .

I "Loan" them out to all of my RV and Diesel customers so they can give it a try. So far over 95% of people that have tested have bought one. The other 5% are just waiting for their paychecks!!. I tell them they can change their minds a year later - that they don't get enough use / improvement from the box I will still give them a refund. They never come back unless it's to Upgrade to a PE Comp, or Blue Chip, Tst etc... .

If I can get it under their hood it's SOLD... . :D

You are right, I did,

Maybe we need to work on a "Nuclear Bomb". A B-1, B-2, and Big Brother on one truck.....

Just need some fuel and RPM's to support it..... ;)

I don't have guages, do I need them with the EZ. Also, I was on the BD site, is Tow Pro the same as EZ?Or are we talking 2 different items here.

I would not...

Run even a EZ on a stock truck without gauges... EGT and Fuel Pressure at a minimum. I can get my EGT to 1200 with just the EZ if I am towing a good load and standing on the go pedal, with the factory muffler removed. Get the EGT gauge.

You need the fuel pressure gauge so you know what your lift pump health is. The LP will fail. Driving long (definition unknown) periods of time with a failed LP can result in the VP44 injector pump failing. VP44 = $750 - $1500 aftermarket, $2000+ from the dealer. Nice set of gauges for ~ $300+.

Advertisements for CPC (CAN Bus Pump Controller) type boxes can be somewhat misleading. They say to expect up to 65 Horsepower over stock. What they do not say is that this 65 HP gain is at approximately 1900 RPM. The total peak Horsepower gain from these type of performance modules is in the neighborhood of 25 Horsepower at 2700 RPM.

The current crop of these boxes also incorporate a boost module. A boost module allows the ECM (not PCM) to see only normal boost levels. A boost elbow (a simple bleed orfice) is at times used with these boxes to raise the wastgate setpoint to allow higher boost to keep EGT under control. This works on the HX35 Turbo. The HY35 Turbo requires a turnbuckle to alter the wastegate setpoint. A CPC Box by itself will not raise boost pressure.

VP44 Equipped engines run on what is called a Controller Area Network ( CAN )

You can plug into two places on the engine to acces the CAN. One place in on the VP44 Data Port, the other is the three pin data port that is in the vicinity of the factory lift pump.

CPC boxes modify the signal to the VP44 within the limits of the CAN protocol that is used to operate the engine which is currently 2^12, or 4096. Anything more than that and the VP44 must be overidden by an external source to increase fueling..... this is where wire tap boxes are used. The current CAN Protocol used on the ISB in the Dodge Application is J1939.

The load a CPC box places on the VP44 is minimal. It is no worse than installing the ISB275 program into the ECM.
