I have 08 ctd. Built in Nov 07. Have had no problems. I have 15,000

miles, and I'm getting ready to pull 5er to northern B. C. I just installed

Edge Insight, w/ pyro probe. Should I visit a dealer for a new 'flash'?

still on factory flash. Or don't fix it if's not broke. Fuel mileage 17-18 .

Mostly highway use. thanks for help...

I'd get the new flash. There have been some significant changes to the regeneration process to fix problems with sooting. I believe the 08s are up to 'AS'.

I believe there is another post on here that was done by a service tech, about the latest flash. This flash was released in March of 09 and covers all 2007,2008 pick-ups with both manual and auto transmissions. There is a different flash part number for the C & C trucks that was also released at this time.

This was the post that I was referring too: P2262 revisited by Mullenax M read thru all of the post under that heading to find the correct part number.

Hope this helps?

Just got the "AS "Flash" yesterday from the dealership for my 08 quad cab . Make sure they put the ECM flash sticker on the hood and label it and sign and date it also.

regens and partail regens were becoming too frequent during drives into town driving and oil levels climbing in crankcase hope this ECM Flash helps remedy the issue in 6. 7 ,

this truck had a nov 07 build date and a "AB" flash from the factory has had 12 updates since new now "AS" flash turbo cleaning, exhaust wrap, o2 sensors, EGR desooted, new turbo, 2 cels ,now for the moment all is well,

i take care of this machine like it is new and all miles were from highway driving in the beginning . and i still got the lights.

Had the AS flash done yesterday. Quite an operation. Was able to watch the tech do it. .

anyway, he says its against Federal law not to sticker the truck after a re-flash... Hope this works. was running on AL and no problems.

I sure would love to see a picture of the sticker, I am curious to see what exactly its text is and color etc!!! (Maybee it is lemon shaped for my truck!!LOL):)

I'm leaving this a. m. for BC. If I get next to computer, I'll post it. I'm already loaded and just waiting for the QUEEN to appear. I'm anctious to see what the flash will do. I have Edge Insight to monitor.

This is from my 08 6. 7 Auto denoting PCM Flash "AS" done on monday 6/29/09. The mechanic put it on the left bottom side of the hood there is a little space in the hood blanket where it fits well.

I arrived in BC with NO problems. I kept record of my regens. approximately every 200 miles pulling 5er (29 ', high profile) w/cruse on at 68mph. regen lasted about 7 minutes each time. When I got to some hills on two lane, driving slower, lots of exhaust break,

regen much more oftgen, and lasting longer. (up to 16 minutes). average mpg 11. 1. We enjoyed the truck and and the drive. BEAUTIFUL country for Oklahoma flat landers.

As Pachino says in Scent of A Woman "don't she purrr"
