yeh I said that earlier in the post. I also mentioned that it had only been on the truck for 3-4 weeks. I thought maybe they would have stood behind it, but as soon as I showed the pictures of it sucking down to 0 psi, I receieved no more replies. So I guess they had no intentions on replacing the pump.

Well that stinks!

I didn't realize no regulator is required with this pump. I assume it has an internal regulator? Is it adjustable, by any chance?

Most importantly, how's the noise? Have you got it isolated enough so you can't hear it over the engine?

No I can hear it running over the sound of the engine. As for the internal regulator. It looks like there is a place to adjust pressure output, but it doesn't look like you could adjust it without a special tool of some kind. Most pumps that we run on these will not require a regulator.

Hey lmills - my Aeromotive 11203 crapped out on me. Started leaking HEAVILY. Upon inspection I found the fuel was disintegrating the seal between the motor shaft and the pump.

Same thing happened to you, didn't it?

P. S. - I've switched to Holley Blue.

I was in a discussion with one of the techs at Aeromotive about the issue. I recommended advising users not to use 11203 with diesel fuel. They feel it's not incompatible with diesel fuel, but rather the 2% biodiesel blend I run.

I asked them to disclose their seal supplier (so I might contact them and buy a seal in another material), but they refused to say.

I've got two of them that didn't last but 3-6 months. Neither one saw biodiesel. One had cetain booster ran through it, but that was it.

Mine lasted 5 months. Let's face it: they're using a seal that's incompatible with diesel but they refuse to admit it.

I was thinking of using an Aeromotive till I read this thread ! Are you guys using the prefilter they recommend? They do have some good info on their website on pressure/volume and regulation. I have been searching the web and found some info on a company http://www.hbus.haldex.com/Distributor/Catalogs/FuelPumpsforCD.ppt that is interesting and www.parker.com/racor/pdf/tier3.pdf is also good. Anybody know anything about these? There has to be a good pump out there some where.

I know my 03 does not have a prefilter before the factory pump and was wondering if that is not what is contributing to so many failures. The Racor info in the above link would seem like the ideal setup. I sure would like to get a setup like that if it is available.

In my opinion, if you're using the stock pickup assembly a prefilter is not required, because the pickup assembly includes its own integral prefilter (basically a silk "sock").

I think Aeromotive makes a great product, and you can't beat their access to tech support. It's just that the 11203 isn't diesel compatible, in my opinion. I have not been able to get them to see it my way, nor admit that anyone else has ever had one fail in a diesel application. They make other pumps that are diesel compatible, but they would require a regulator, which I don't want to bother with.

There is a good pump out there; apparently it's the Holley Blue series! Mine works great, lmills' works great, and JSteiger's works great. No leaks (yet). There have been reports in the past, however, of Holley Blue motors going bad. We'll see.

If my Holley Blue quits on me, I think I'll try out a Holley 12-920. Looks like near-perfect specifications as a 3rd gen lift pump, and an inline design so leaks should be a non-issue.

If you're willing to run a regulator, there's a million great pumps out there.

12-920 looks like a nice unit, but it is only rated at 67 gph. I don't think that would be enough to keep me happy. :D

I tried the dd kit ant it was ok, but not enough and the pump was noisy. I was trying to pull fuel through a selector valve because I run an auxiliary tank.

I wanted to try a holly to push fuel through the valve but i would need 2 pumps, one for each tank. I found a pump rebuilder that has black holley with lifetime warrentee for half the price of summit racing, so I bought 2.

I tried just the holley and it was the same as the carter pressure wise maybe one psi higher. so I added the carter back in the system and pressure at idle is 27~28 and lowest I have seen is 16 with a dirty filter. wot with clean filter is 22~23psi.

the best part is two pumps run at the same time so if one dies your NOT walking and with the two pumps running simultaneously are quieter than one pump by itself  . I have 15~16k miles on this setup and no problems.

Aeromotive makes a pump for marine use that is diesel rated... I saw it posted somewhere... it was about $400 though...
