What fuel PSI should I change filter?

Hi guys. On my gauge I am at about 10 psi at idle. When I really hammer and hold it with the Edge on 3 it will drop to about 7 psi. Is there a certain PSI when I know it is time to change the filter? Would it depend on where my pressure sensor is located? Thanks.

You would need to ck psi pre and post filter to get the psi drop the filter is causing

Is there a minimum recommended fuel psi I shouldn't go below? I hear 5 is about the cutoff?

It is not so critical on the 3rd gens,they will still run with no lift pump,I can vouch for at least 85mph with out a pump :-laf

I can vouch for over 300 miles with no lift pump. The biggest problem when the stock lift pump goes is that you now have a large restriction in the line. Take the pump out and replumb without a pump and the truck runs fine. That common rail sure does like to suck. :-laf



I have run my fuel pressure gauge pre and post filter while on the stock lift pump. I was wanting to see if I could tell how dirty my fuel filter was too. Well I found that it really did not work as the fuel pressure varied depending on the temperature of the fuel. So, I'd think that it was about time to change the filter and then I'd drive a long distance on a hot day and the pressure would come back up to the normal amount.
