What gauges needed for a 6.7?

I am wanting/needing to put some gauges in and am wondering as far as what gauges i would need or which ones are most important for a 6. 7?



I know a Pyro is always a must... One question with that is after reading some of these regen temps do they make a gauge that reads high enough?



What gauge would be 2nd?



When i had a Vp44 truck a fuel pressure gauge was a must, not sure if i would need one on a 6. 7 or not? I had one on my 06 and it was nice piece of mind having it.



Truck is an auto, and every auto that i have had has had a transmission temp gauge..... Not sure weather i would need one on the new truck or not.....



And last a boost gauge... ... . Most likely i would like to put no more than 3 gauges as i would like to keep them all together... . So with that being said which of the 4 gauges would be most important on a stock 6. 7l with light mods(intake maybe down the road).



This 6. 7 stuff is to complicated... . Like an old dog learning new tricks... .

Same decision to make.



Went with EGT/Boost/TransTemp (All Isspro- from Diesel Manor). Also 300 degree auto shut-down(NOT a timer), and fuel-pressure idiot light... very small red indicator light in dash, left of steering wheel. (Figure either fuel pressure is "too low" or it's not. How much too low is less important. ANY much too-low is too much. Just let me know that is the case, and repairs will be sought. )



Gauges mounted in order listed, left-to-right, according to frequency of interest/reference.



Mounted EGT sensor pre-turbo as suggested by many, including "authoritative" web-sites.



Chose center-overhead mount. (Those windshield pillars, combined with the large side mirrors, create enough of a forward blind-spot as it is. Also VERY glad to have kept the boarding grip on the drivers pillar. That and running boards make climbing up into these tall (3500 LB DRW 4X4 6. 7 68RFE) beasts no-problemo!)



Center-overhead mount also sometimes helps block the low-angle sun between the visors and the rear-view mirror.



I got black-face gauges(EGT has color indication).



When lights are on at night, the "cockpit" is nothing but aircraft-cool!



All items installed by Dishman Dodge (care of Josh) before delivery.



One thing in-progress: Putting acetate (red) overlay on CD/Nav LCD-screen. When turned on, bright white glare is distraction and bad for night vision (poor non-planning by designers). It is also cool that the large white speedo-tach dials change color at night, subdueing their glare effect.

Well I am the opposite, I didnt have the transmission gauge in my 01 and I cooked my transmission. So I will not go with out another transmission gauge again. As far as the pillar mount to me its not that big of a blind spot to worry about over the handle on the pillar which IMO is useless same with the passenger side handle no one will grab that handle to hold on it way up by the windshield I think its more cosmetic then anything it needs to be up by your head like they use to be.

The fact is that I and my girlfriend use the "useless" grip all-the-time, when boarding, and would miss it for sure if it were removed for gauge placement. I am pleased with the overhead gauges.



I have no plans to use this DRW 3500 for a Jeep. If I was going to be a fly-through-the-air rough rider, I would wear a full racing harness.

When we begin "noticing" things about one another, instead of addressing the truck-related discussion, it does not upgrade the atmosphere.



I don't have a "jock" mindset which reduces everything to offense/defense terms, ... i. e. , competition or combat. Different opinions do not threaten me in the least. I did not take your having one as an attack on me, and "defense" was not a consideration.



Forum discussions have an informative intent, I believe.



Yes, I was fully aware that your "IMO" meant just that. You informed the readership that you believed the subject handles to be "useless", and that "no one" would use them.



I have direct experience to the contrary, and said so,... thus "informing" you, and any readers, that "useless" and "no one" were inaccurate descriptions in at least some cases.



As to how anyone short, heavy, infirm, injured, elderly, etc. , etc. , etc. , boarded these tall trucks before assist grips were added,... there is no mystery - it was with a bit more difficulty, plain and simple. The fact that a great many people have no desire for or need of them does not prove their uselessness to others.



Point/counterpoint in a discussion is not a fight. It livens things, and broadens perspectives. But drifting into personal "observations" about other members has considerable negative potential.



I implied acknowledgement of the usefulness of differently placed grips if the issue was "hanging on" (the "not so smooth roads" you describe).



But my main point was that the handles are in fact "useful" to a degree, right where they are.



FYI, I am a 66 year old, of approximately "normal" height/weight, and in better shape than most my age. I use the handle almost every time I climb into the truck, and as I said before, I am glad it is there, rather than absent (The removal of the pillar grip for pillar gauge placement would not reposition the grip "by your head" where you prefer it. It would simply be gone. )



BTW, soliciting the opinions of "almost everyone I know" would not prove/disprove the merits of my stated position. Nor would it change the fact of my own experience, which is what I have reported.



If that reporting seemed "defensive" to you, rather than simply informative, I suspect it has something to do with the eye of the beholder.



Since my beholder's nose sniffs a bit of "personal" in your first sentence("LOL" notwithstanding), a more Dick Cheney-like response was an option,... but I've tried to be constructive. .



A final note: The other winky-face accompanying my remarks about the jeep and the "flying" was intended to communicate something. Josh's subsequent post indicated that he "got it", and he replied in the same spirit. Perhaps he has already accomplished the "lightning-up" you suggest for me?
