Competition What gear should I pull??

What gear should I pull in? My truck makes a little over 500 hp/1200 lbs and its an 03' long box. I pulled last week and the truck over reved in both low 4th and high 2nd. I need help because I got beat by an 03' Dura Max. Does any one know what the low side of the transfer case on a 96 thur 98 and the ratios of the 5 speed.

Have you tried 5th low? It looks like you have the clutch to handle it .

Seriously... does anyone know if you can take off in 3rd gear low range with a stock clutch with my setup? I've tried... and fried... wonder if there's a trick I can employ?!?

Around here with the 6 speed, 4th gear, 4 low seems the best. With the 5 speed 3 rd gear. Your rear gear will make a difference. Last nite we went to a local pull and the sled man backed out on um. They came up with a sled nobody had pulled before and it gave a lot of trouble. All the Dodges went home at 11:00. I ain't pulling at 2:00 O'clock in the morning. After all, I am 60 and need my sleep
