what happened to our manifold bolts?

well they backed out and vibrated until we're going to have to replace intake manifolds on our 2001. 5's. both trucks covered by cummings and dodge, but i have to think that this is going to come up again, just a warning. these trucks pull 24/7 so it might not happen to alot of you guys right away, but keep youre eyes. and ears open.

I thought the intake manifold was a cast unit that is part of the head? At least my 5. 9s are. It would be impossible for my intake manifold to be removed.

I believe its the exhaust manifold bolts Gonz

If you want to make this upgrade yourself, the lock plates are # 5072387-AA. It takes four of them and they are $4. 00 each. Just position them and drive them on with a socket (but check the bolt torque first - 32 ft. lbs. ).

I just noticed yesterday that #1 exhaust gasket was leaking on mine. Retorqued the bolt . It helped but still leaks. BTW,get the gaskets from Cummins not Dodge! I still have a warranty but would have to drive 100 miles to a dealer which will warranty my truck and my truck is stock.
