Anyone else notice Gary's absence, anyone know if he just didn't renew or ? Been a member for over 10 years and no posts in some months. . . his postometer is stuck at 11,666

He's doing fine. He just decided to take some time away from TDR to concentrate on camping and other things. He said he didn't renew his subscription.

Thanks Grizzly. I was thinking about heading south for a drive through the NE Oregon hills today, will stop in to say hello if I do. . .

Welcome back Gary. I'm sure you'll find plenty more of   #@$%! :{:rolleyes:

Tell us what you've been doing in the last two years.

Been Rving, fishing, and restored an old classic motorcycle - a Kawasaki KZ1100 LTD that was the hot bike to have back in it's day:

BUT, I keep getting followup Email questions on some of the threads I have started here in the past on various truck mods, so figured it was time to come back to reply directly in the forums, rather than by Email. So far, the reception has been positive - but it's early yet... ;) :)

Gary,

Good to see you back, looking forward to your posts. Since I visited we picked up an Airstream and started getting away.

Welcome back, Gary. I've put a bike that preceded the Kaw by a bit back on the road. My 1971 Honda CB750K1 that I bought new and kept all these years.

Nice Honda Rusty - my first inline 4 was a brand new '69 Honda 750/4, a great and totally trouble-free bike, I've had a couple of later ones since, but the '69 remains my favorite. The Honda was fast, but the first KZ 900's were SCARY fast, and my '83 KZ1100 is no slouch - but I'm too old, timid and chicken-hearted to wring out all she has to offer... ;)

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!

I know what you mean. That BMW in the background of my photo is rated at 152 BHP versus 67 BHP of the stock 750 Honda (mine has a bit more with the Yoshimura R&T cam, Jardine header, etc. ). I used to think the Honda was pretty fast, but twisting the throttle on the BMW (which you don't do for long!) shows how far we've come.

Thanks for the thought - still around, just not as busy with the truck as in earlier days. Been getting email questions on some earlier experimentation and development - so drifted back for at least a while...

We had an early 80's KZ650-SR. It was a nice running small bike. We traded our flat fender/283 Jeep for it, to a young lady that purchased it new, and her parents did not like her riding it.

The KZ650 held the 24 Hour Speed Record of 117mph from 1977 to 1985 when Cycle World beat it with the GSXR-750 at 128mph.
