97 12v with a 5spd had the pumped tweaked and had a tst #11 plate all the way back on it. it smoked pretty good until ... ... i took the stock plate ground it down to a 100 plate and slid it 3/4 the way forward. now no smoke ya more power but no smoke what is the deal i was expecting more smoke not less

TIA

have you tweaked the AFC housing, and springs in there ?

you have first hand proof of my truck with #10, AFC full forward, and AFC springs loosend.

good luck

What kind of boost is he seeing with the 100 ?

i ground the top down to be flush with the top mounting plate and it is like a slight fish hook at the bottom but what i dont get is before i put the 100 plate in it smoked and smoked good and it was set all the way back towards the cab (#11 plate) now i put the 100 plate in there most the way forward towards bumper and no smoke doesnt moving the plate forward mean more fuel and with a 100 plate doesnt that mean more fuel?

No Smoke

When you reinstalled the afc housing did you slide it all the way towards the front of the truck, theres an allen plug on top of the afc housing take that out and spin the star wheel towards the engine till you can't move it no more and go for another test drive. Oo.

i know about the star wheel but why would it smoke and then put a bigger plate that should smoke more and slide it forward and not make any other adjustments and then no more smoke thats what i dont get

I took all the pieces out of the AFC housing except the diaphragm so they wouldnt wear out!!!!! :-laf :-laf :-laf I also pluged the holes in the AFC housing and the manifold. You may need to adjust the gov. lever so it follows your new profile better. Hope this helps.

Is there a way to see (with the AFC housing off) how the arm follows the plate? By pulling on the throttle I can see the arm bump the plate, so I know that it isn't sliding under, but how can you see if it follows the plate up the curve?
