I was driving home from work and the motor quit just like I turned off the key. Not acting up in any manner before hand. When I tried to restart, it fired up and ran about 3 revs only to die again each time. It's at the dealer now. Any ideas what the cause is?

Had to have it towed since I could not figure out what was wrong or how to fix. Fortunately, I was just driving home empty. My mind is full of thoughts about this happening under different circumstances that are common for me: 1) 12K loaded gooseneck, 2) 4 hours up into a 4wd road in Colorado mountains, or 3) a long way from home.

My first thought is no fuel. About the only thing that will stop the motor. My guess is a clogged fuel filter or your fuel solinoid is not holding open. Should be easy to find the problem.

Sudden cut off points to fuel/electric related. I think your fuel shut off solenoid quit working or lost power.
A test light can conmfirm power getting to solenoid or relay.
One of the wires going to relay could of bit the dust.
Good news solenoid can be checked out by turning key and looking to see if rod moved up a little.
You can also push the rod up all the way manually and tie into position and see if it starts.
