I have an 06 ctd with a straight pipe. Tonight i raced a guy with a second Gen and i had a hard time pulling him we were pretty much neck and neck the whole time. When we got to a light he said that all he had done was a straight pipe. How is this possible? He has what like 250 HP maybe at the crank and something like 460 torque i think that i should have walked all over him if he was stock. What gives?

thats pretty much the only think i could think of. This thing would blow black smoke not tons but more than it would if it were "stock"

He IS NOT stock! 24V 2nd gens don't smoke stock A 12V could be turned up but it wouldn't be considered stock then(in my mind).

Plain and simple... ... ... ... he lied. My 610 has beat 2nd gens with enough parts to have 400hp. I am not totally stock but not far from it ;)

haha well i dont think driver error is the case we were both rolling and when i heard him downshift i punched it as well to downshift so maybe a 1/2 sec difference but still i would think i could run circles around him

The HP spread between HO 24 valves and most 3rd gen trucks is not that great on the dyno. . . only about 30hp. And some is lost to weight like Lightman said.

My '01 HO stock put down 245hp, my '03 HO did 270, and felt only slightly stronger than my '01.

A 12v can smoke, even stock. Mine did. Not much mind you, without a trailer, but it was visible. No comparison now. :-laf BLACK OUT. :-laf

I have noticed that a truck with a manual transmission will push you into the seat better than an auto, even a BOMBed auto. I've ridden in FordCummins' (12v :) )truck. His quicker spooling turbo and 2 more gears may have had someting to do with it too. He builds boost faster than I do off the line.

If your 48RE is stock, the looser torque convertor hurt you. They aren't very tight. Mine sure wasn't. Now, :D Oo.

It's the 2nd gen "RATTLE" that adds another 25 rwhp :-laf my truck is "completely stock" if someone outside of TDR asks (mainly p-choke/maxi owners)

Id guess it was a 12v as stated above, CPoling's 12v would run with mine pretty good stock but we also had his pump "tweaked"... . now my 01 to dads 05 (edge ez) I can run with him easily with my box on 1x5, now with the dd3's Im sure I will be smoking him easily... or until my hy35 flatlines and the egt's go up.

at least it wasnt a GM/Ferd that you were neck and neck with... should have dropped a TDR flyer to him :D

There's a noticable power difference between an '03 and an '06 isn't there?

Fact is, the dude was lying to ya :) He probably had injectors or something...
