Mine was getting dirty with the bottle & only a quarter full. I did the hose extension a year ago, but getting tired of the drips in my shop. Been thinking of the enviro gaurd or what ever it's called from cummins.

I zip tied an old cotton sock around the blow by hose extension to catch the drips. The oil will drip into the sock from the hose extension and then wick up the cotton fibers of the sock. I change the sock once or twice a year and a few zip ties is an easy fix to the oil drips.

This is such an easy and common sense fix, you really hafta be sorta hardheaded and just plain stubborn to not use it...

No drips, oily film or crud ANYWHERE but on the outer sock - and simply change it when you are already under the truck changing oil... ;) :-laf :-laf

I call it my "old sock recycling system!" :-laf :-laf

Hey I was wondering about the bottle myself, but Is there a reason to remove it? I dont have to much of a mess under the hood, sorry about the dumb question, or is it one of DCs great ideas,

I would suggest that you do something, it really is a dumb idea the way they have it.

The pictures I posted wernt my doing but one I had to clean up. I get a 3/4" plastic double hose barb and 3' of 3/4" rubber hose and extend it behind the front suspension.

The sock idea sounds good too, never tried it.

If you leave it where it is, bottle or no bottle, it is very likely that the oily blowby fumes are collecting in your radiator inner coils.

Just make sure the hose has no chance of kinking up when you extend it, or seals will pop with the pressure buildup.

I dropped my hose straight down, drilled 3/8 holes in the sides of an old 500 count aspirin bottle, and put the hose through the lid. Unscrew the bottle from the lid to clean. Next oil change think I'll put a sock on it also.

Is this something specific to the 24 valvers? I don't recall seeing anything like that on my 12er. The one thing I did see was that there is a hose that comes down near the transmission and seems to keep the first drive shaft U-joint lubed and some of the other parts waterproof! :-laf
