With the previous thread regarding a similar subject I thought it would be intersting to hear what people use. Especially since I haven't found a product I am happy with.

I'd like to hear what the product is, who makes it and where did you get it.

Thanks!

Dan

1st and best is called G-A-R-A-G-E...

2nd is called T-R-U-C-K C-O-V-E-R...

And with BOTH, lotsa careful washes and most ANY decent non-abrasive wax/polish... IF the paint applied to your specific vehicle was done properly, the above will keep it in good condition for MANY years - if the paint application or quality was POOR, all the babying in the world won't make very much difference.

Take a look at the "Wax/polish test" section in the pointer below to see some of my results with several different product... ;) :D

Best thing for my paint...

Dan,

When I first discovered the benefit of using an advanced technology selant, I was done using wax. The high quality Carnauba wax (Meguiars, Wax Shop, Mothers) were somewhat satisfactory, being a big improvement over a standard Paste type wax like Turtle Wax or Kit or somesuch.

The Carnauba types were better because the higher grade wax was quite a bit easier to wipe off, leaving less residue and a better shine. But still the problem of length of durability remained. On a garaged vehicle, I'd get about 2 months, or only a month if it sat out. Doesn't anything last longer ? Do I really have to re-wax each month or two?

Then a buddy let me try a product he bought (at the Del Mar Fair in San Diego, I recall) on a demonstration called Racers Edge Polymer Teflon Finish, that was highly touted. I tried it on the same car I had been waxing and was quite impressed at the difference. It was easier, the finish seemed tougher, dirt washed off easier, and two months later, it was still there, (the bottle proclaimed it would last a year !) with no apparent degradation.

Hard to believe it could be easier & last longer, and it did hold the nice appearance for about 10 months, when I re-applied it. I went back to the fair, bought more & interviewed the rep. He explained it didn't wash off with moisture or melt off with head like all waxes do, and that's why they'd come back each year & sell more cause most folks would be amazed & get some for friends, gifts, etc.

He did mention that the car dealers offer the same thing, but they don't sell the customer the bottles, they just do an application for them, charge them some $$$ (my dad paid $ 280 on an Izuzu P/U) for the trouble. The whole point of the Racer's Edge Finish was to offer the same benefit to do-it-yourselfers who were looking for something better than wax at a reasonable price. Back then (1985) it was $ 20 a quart for 10 cars worth.

Anyhow, that was my first experience with finally finding something that was good enough to make it enjoyable to do & recommend to others.

Funny thing is, it kind of led to the kind of work I do now with Perma Shield providing much the same thing to others.

Hope this helps.

I ordered the Zaino Brothers Polish. I was searching the achives and some guys loved it. I guess the Guys at Viper Central (Dodge Viper owners) swear by it. Can you think of a more discriminating vehicle owner? :D

I'm not sure about the protection part, but it looks like it does a good job in Gloss Enhancement.

Wax

I shy away from "sealants"- regular washing and the application of a good wax protects well- Zaino and Zymol are great- Zainos product is a polish that I have applied to Big Green- excellent shine and protection- it does not like humidity and takes a long time to dry in humid conditions- It is the polish of choice for many car enthusiasts. Zymol has some carnauba which is great and also does a good job of protection. I have also used Gliptone- an expensive clearcoat wax made in NY and Griots Garage Best in Show which has carnauba and goes on real easy. Periodic clay bar treatments get a lot of small grit off the clearcoat and prepares the surface for a good coat of wax- Zaino is compatible with 2-3 coats which also improves gloss- some others build up and do not do well with multiple coats. Spent four hours yesterday detailing my friends new Ram 1500 4x4 and even the new finish gave up a lot of crap to the clay bar- the Griots Garage wax went on easier and looks great. Clearcoat is the true protector and the wax helps it out by blocking UV and the effects of rain and other contaminants. Detailing the truck is fun and certainly helps resale.

..

Try RACERS EDGE, best darn liguid polish/wax I ever used. You cant find it many places. I get mine at Military base service stations.

Ive been using a product called R71 super. It is a high gloss sealing agent. It is for cars boats RV's sleds and more. It is very easy to apply and does NOT leave white marks on the black plastic, a little goes a long way. It provides a wet look elastic non chip shrink proof, heat and scratch resistant acrylic finish. It says it lasts 4-6 months, and for me it lasted 6 mths easy, and that was with pressure washing the truck once a week with the salty road conditions. It cost me about 10 $ CAN. Sorry guys it is made in Germany not the USA. . Alot of guys around here with vintage cars swear by it.

I am in no way affiliated with this company, it is just a good product that works well for me making life a little easier.

Zaino for me is the best. I just did my GN with it and then I comb my hair and shave using the rear quarter panel to see myself:D :D

try it you wont be dissappointedOo. Oo.

I also heard BlackFire and Klasse are excellent but never tried them

I personally have used about every different wax/polish I have ever seen in car parts stores. All manner of Turtle wax, NuFinish, TR3, Raindance, Meguiars ... ... . and Zaino Brothers. I have been using Zainos since I bought my truck, and I absolutely love it! To me, it is significantly better than Meguiars or any other traditional wax/polishes. It most definitely buffs out a lot easier, and seems to last a lot longer under the weather and climate conditions in my area. And it does seem to have at least slightly better optical properties as far as the gloss looks.
