Well I didn’t mention the slider. But I will never own a short bed so I won’t have to see if I can lift it.

The standard Companion might be 50-60 lbs less, still a no go for a mortal like me.

I have an extended pin box and never use the slider. I was looking for a standard Companion but this one came up in the classifieds, used one season for $400. It was hard to pass up.

When I had my old Reese Slider hitch, I always used a chain pull hoist to raise and lower the hitch into the bed of my 2008 short bed truck. Now the slider portion of the new hitch just stays in the bed all of the time. I only remove the hitch head on my Demco Hijacker auto glide hitch now.

Why do I leave the sliding portion in the bed? Because that is just about the only thing I carry in the bed now, so why pull the slider out?
