Folks, let's get personal.

I would like to start a new thread called "What I do with my truck". I would like you to post pix of your truck in her working world. If you cannot post pix, just give a brief outline of what you do and why you have the truck.


For me, I have to have my truck for biz. I buy for 8 dealers, 3 of which are Horse Trailer dealers. Sometimes, when it suits the wife and I, when we buy a unit for a dealer, we will hook on to it and deliver. We put together our on loads and try to make round robins when we go outbound.

We go where WE want to go and when WE want to go. Works well for us.

Mostly just a daily driver now, but as a 30 year veteran of the trucking world this is an interesting subject. When I retire from my real job I will probably hotshot again, until I spend all my retirement, lol.



I hauled this Dually from Showlow, AZ to Ray, ND. for my son last year. About 18,000 GCW. Picture was taken at a rest stop near Lusk, Wy.

I pull trailers. These are two of my strangest loads. The longer boat trailer is stacked on the smaller one because the GVWR of the long one is 30,000 pounds and required a CDL to pull. It went from the Orlando area to Seattle. The big ugly trailer is a construction portajohn from Albuquerque to San Jose.

Mine has no particular purpose. Everything from hauling gravel to taking me to dinner to sled pulling.

The old 01 I had pulled this 5th wheel trailer. . I have the hitch in the new truck below but haven't towed with it yet,. . I am going to put the wind deflector back on but I am going to fabricate my own with the base of the tavel eze 11. .

On my old 2500, it was about 70' long. . Utah has a law that doubles can be up to 65' "Loaded length" (front of trailer to rear of rear trailer. )... so I am like 55' there. . New truck will be 2' longer

I tried that when I first moved to Florida. Had a 34' Travel Supreme behind me and my VW TDI behind the trailer. I came across the state line at P'Cola and the DOT man was on me like a duck on a June bug before I got to the first exit.



You can't do that, he said. Sure I can, I said. Just came all the way from Texas today... ... ... ...



Boy, you can't do that in Florida... ... ... ..... is what he said. So I unhooked the VW in a Wal-Mart parking lot and came back and got it a few days later.



Oh well... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

I use to drive my truck more often years ago. Now it is mainly used to tow my 44' Pace Daytona GT Multi Car Trailer. 23,460 not fully loaded.

I haul a "baby trailer" compared to most of y'all.



Mine is primarily used to pull my 96 Impala SS around to racing events throughout mostly the Southeast and to carry my "race rubber" collection in the bed. It has been anywhere from Detroit, to Pocono, to Atlanta, to St. Louis, to Indy, to Talladega, etc... It pulls this 7500" open trailer with ease.
