Gentlemen,
I installed my cold air intake (dura-flex, flange, band clamps, and coupling)... it looks good too. After install, I started the engine and you can feel the air being drawn into the inlet of the ducting.
The seal between the air box and fender is horrible (just foam weatherstripping between the two pieces). Am I missing something? I've only had the truck two weeks so am unsure whether there's supposed to be an air horn (like my 2001. 5 had) connecting the air box to the fender. If not, I'll have to fabricate something to fix that lousy setup.
I mounted my toilet flange, after modifying it, on the inside of the air box. Used 2" x 1/4" counter-sunk bolts to fasten it to the air box. Wrapped some high-voltage electrical insulation tape around the seat of the flange to make a tight seal between it and the air box... no air getting through there. It took roughly 22" of dura-flex to reach from the bottom of the air box to the lower lip of the fender well. At the end of the duct I shoved a 3" ABS coupling, clamped it, and screwed it the the fender well.
Now, if only I'd get my Amsoil EaA filter. It's on back order. They shipped me a hundred pounds of oil, but couldn't manage to stock a 1. 5 pound filter. I'm hoping it'll ship soon.
