just wondering... . i am an owner of a 2nd gen and dont know much about the 1st gens... . but i soon hope to do some mods as i will be purchasing a 1st gen very soon!!

Well, nascar marks 308hp run is the highest well-known dyno run. I have heard rumors of other 300+hp first gens, but none of which were confirmed. Mark had more than that before selling his engine, but didn't dyno it that I know of. I'll let him make an estimate.

I think that 250 - 275hp can be reached fairly easily.

I need to get an emission test on mine, but I would guesstimate 250-260 hp (flywheel) out of mine. I know a guy that had 252 rwhp out of PWs and a 16 cm housing, with some mild pump tweaks. His was a 5 speed. My 93 has a 12 cm, and the pump tweaked all I am going to turn it up (too much smoke at bottom end if I add more fuel), and I make 27 psi @6500 ft. Not sure, but I could probably peg the guage at sea level.

I'm did 258 a while back. But that was before I did some "other" things and I'm not done yet. Plus I am getting 21mpg (just checked it) on the hiway.

 Aahhh, come on Dave, I've seen you take 2 kicks at the can and never turned more than 225rwhp. They only count if anyone seen it. :D

Mark, I haven't seen those numbers sence I had the bad injectors. An I DO have the dyno sheet to proove 258. That's ok, real soon I will knock you off the HP mountain. You've been up there for way too long. And I think I should get a 5hp bonus because my truck is cleaner then yours.

HAH, so there!

Seems to me I saw a black truck with a red stripe going too fast down the freeway the other day. Musta been you, Mark.

Ya ya, Dave. Blame it on the injectors. ;) Seems to me you swaped in the new injectors in Monroe and then what. :p

Gene, Good to see you looking in on us 1st genners. Need someone to keep us in line. LOL

Oh ya, your mom wears combat fatiques... your dad's... . and looks darn good too. . :p :p

Just put 'er on the rollers and let it rip... . I think PDR is gonna have a set soon :):)

I guess I gotta get back in the hunt and clam both of you guys up, from the sound of it here... .

since G-Tech numbers don't count, I'm waitin for Piers to get his new shop...

On the serious side, the generally accepted threshold for HP is about 300 RWHP. That is using the VE pump, with bigger nozzles, different turbo (atleast exhaust side), advanced timing, air in/air out mods.

I think I can safely say that nascar mark cleanly hit 310 RWHP, but with mods that followed he was likely up in the 350 RWHP range. With his own mods, he was making real nice HP, and was running over 40psi boost, in fact I think he hit about 46 psi.

Our trucks have certain issues to deal with... they don't breath worth a spit, (porting/polishing helps along with a cam)

The ability to have the VE supply enough fuel is another. By that I don't mean enough to survive a few dyno runs, but rather feed the beast and still have a decent road life span.

When you finally get the fuel issue addressed, you should hook up a better turbo to feed the air at decent temps/drive pressures too.

all in fun here guys...

Bob.

OK I expect to see all you West Coast US and Canadian 1st Gen guys at Diesel Thunder in Spokane this year for the Northwest RWHP run off. That will give everyone time to get their trucks and excuses ready. :D :D :D

I too have made some "small" changes with more "small" changes in the works. I would like to see around 275 RWHP so I am not trying to head the list:D . It would be nice to see all the west coasters there so we can run in our own class.

Power to the trucks that started it all Oo. Oo. Oo.

Bob

Yeah there are a few trucks out here in the midwest, but we use ours for work, not play. Just kidding, you west coasters can put your choice weapon down now:) Most of our fun is in the summer, such as Thunder in Muncie, or Scheid's event in Terre Haute, IN. On Feb. 22 a few of us are getting together in Lafayette, IN for bit of fun at Scheid Diesel. If you aren't too far from Indiana, come on over.

midwest dually,

A few of us get together at a place called Mike's Custom Trucks every so often. It's located in North Dakota just west of Grand Forks, MN. I've been out there a couple times and ran my '01 on the dyno. We have another gig in the planning this spring. Not sure if this is too far for you or not. Watch for posts in the events forum or PM me.

H.P

I did see that dave had a whole 250rwhp. I have been asking him when he's going to get some (REAL) H. P. but he has no answer. LOL DAVE Thanx Eric

grand forks is around 10 hrs from me... a bit to far... . i am located in nothern iowa... and there are a few ctds but only my friends that i have "shown the light" really have them. i just want to see what everyone else has... ...

400/952

come on you guys, get with the program

my little 93 made 404 hp 4x4 and hit 952 tork

but only ran 92 mph in the qtr

not bad for a 1st gen 4x4 dually in 2x4
