Competition Funny Truck Pulls

Talk about new stuff being built, I get a bunch of emails asking for details and advice, (as many other TDR racers do) and as always, give them as much help as I can to keep the Cummins stuff out front. I have heard (Fact or fiction????) that Banks is building a D-Max killer rig. International is (or was) supposedly building a P-Stroke killer truck. What has everyone else heard or better yet seen? Post it up.

Yes. "Next year. " The quote of all time by all racers. It is amazing how after spending all of your loose time and money on this stuff, we get the batteries charged up again over the winter, and instead of making subtle changes, we throw a whole new set of changes in to a nearly perfect deal. Been there. Done that. About to make another tour. We have so much planned for a new engine / trans for the dragster that we will probably be slower first pass in the spring than now. But when (if?) we get it dialed in, maybe we will finally see the HP numbers that may make this thing fly.

C'mon every one. Get everyone that is out there, leaning on the fence telling his buddy how fast his rig is GOING to be, walking around the project in the garage, to shut up and put up. Get the trucks and race cars done, and on the track next year. The only way we all get faster is by getting beat by someone we never expected to get their "A" game together. There are at least 10 guys out there running more brute HP than us. We just have been good at getting it to launch and spool up quick by matching turbos converters, gearing and other stuff.

We have had more fun this year traveling around, meeting some great people and trying new stuff. Thanks to a few people smarter than me, (not hard to do) we have continued to make progress.

So. What is out there that is REALLY going to go fast? Cummins or not?

Scott... . Around here there are 2 boys building 2 wheel drive trucks. I don't know anybody working on a dragster. Daren and Matt will have their 4 wheel drives runnin. Their trying a different twin combo. I think Matt needs to leave his truck alone. Just change tires and maybe, wheels. Jeff's got a new/old 94 he's playing with. Probably within 500 horses soon. This is a real sweet driving truck. We've done a few suspension changes and they seem to be working well. The first time it went to the track in mostly stock configuration, the truck ran a 12. 98. The street slicks would not hook. Bigger tires will be better hooking.

That's about what's happening around here. I'm looking into pulling, but whare O whare are the $.

I do know of a couple of rigs being built that will be way too cool!

I'm wondering if anyone is going to compete on the dyno... ..... without N2O, meaning #2 only or with water... ... ... ... ... I'm game!

Gale Banks told me that they are doing a Duramax deal and never really said if it was for Drag racing on what... . I think more for all around general performance demo.

My rig dont go fast, but I am planning on some major changes for next year. :) Mainly under the hood, but also a few changes for safety's sake. After the last big bang (literally) :{ , last year at Zanesville, we decided to completely reamp our engine program, that should put us in the up  there power range, and be alot more reliable. Drivetrain isn't changing much, but personal and personel appearancemwill be different, I for one am going on a big time diet so I can fit in my old driving suit :-laf . I'm going to try to work in crew uniforms, so we will be a little more recognizable. And we are updating to meet new safety specs, but overboard is my middle name, so i'll be adding a five point Halon onboard fire suppresion system and an optionall Co2 nozzle to the motor that is activated when the air shuttof is pulled, but only when I opt to. That should stop ANY runaways. BTW Scott, Do they make the dragracers have a air shutoff like us sled pullers? If not, then how do you get it shutoff if you hang a plunger or start sucking oil? Just curious :D

Air Shutoff?

Probably the best thing you can do once you really get serious on a P pumped Cummins. You hang a rack one time, and by the time you get it shut down, you will be cleaning up a mess. Or two.

It is not "required" by NHRA, but DHRA has it in the Top Diesel rules.

We have one in the pressure side, but a lot put them in the turbo inlet.

reamp our engine program :D

You know when someone has gone through too many engines when the start referring to it as an "engine program". ;) New source for the engine? Best of luck to you next year. Always better to see more trucks competing in the open class. Matt

I'm retiring, to concentrate full time on DHRA, and get a few things done, like finish my house, to make Andy Sebek happy.

I may race Sled Racer a few times just for kicks.

I'm going to finish my book on cytoskeletal protein and quantum decoherence

in brain process then, I might change out my rear shocks.

I just had to go and buy real estate...

My '94 might make a few (slow) passes down the 1320 next year...

The '98 might have to tow the '94 if I tear it up. :-laf

Well Scott, we really don't have too many secrets here. We'll always help if you want it. The only thing I'm kinda borthered by, is the girls were supposed to have worn their drawers. Oo. I just don't believe they would do that. When they left here they had full dresses. Get there and the things shrunk. I'm sorry. I just don't know what happened.

I promise. It won't happen again.

. . Preston. .

I want a copy of Flecher's book , too.

I talked to Gale Banks at SEMA and he did say that he was in the process of building a dragster with a Dmax in it, with money directly from GM.

Haven't heard about the International rumor, I guess I will have to get on that one.

We'll be looking for the local Cummins dragster to be low 7s, high 6s, right? You guys seem to make huge strides, so it doesn't seem to be reaching to think about. But even if not, can't wait to see it run in the 7s in person.

Also looking forward to hopefully seeing Eric McBride's new ride going down the track.

We do have some strong PSDs that will be making their debut next year, and the local RMTDR guys have some major strong runners that they are improving even more. The Dmax guys are also looking forward to getting back on the track after some wintertime improvements.

Should be a good year next year!

Wayne and I think alike... (as if that wasn't obvious)

When I bought a keg for my graduation party, I asked what the deposit was for the tap and the keg. The dude at the 'packie' responded with this info:

Tap deposit = $50

Keg deposit = $10

If this isn't justification to drink more beer, I don't know what is. I have two empty kegs back in MA. They're built like brick outhouses and are worth every penny of the deposit $.
