It is the sound that a 3rd gen makes at low rpm when it is makeing all of its torque. You can really hear it if you are straight piped

What I'm fighting is a cab resonance noise that starts about 1800 rpm, it's not the exhaust sound from the tailpipe. My truck is fairly quiet accelerating normally until you hit ~1800 rpm & it's like flipping a switch it just suddenly starts a different sound that gets worse with more load until ~2200 rpm & fades away.

Drone is the consistent resonance most commonly experienced on the highway. It's the constant noise that most of us experience around 2100-2200 rpm with aftermarket exhausts. It can be pretty annoying depending on what system you have.

Think of a sub woofer in the back seat. . no music, just one long continuous deep tone emanating. Very annoying been there done that and took it off.
