Thought I read somewhere that they wern't that's good to know

The engine mounted design was not flow-thru, but the in-tank will (depending on how it fails). . this provides for a "limp" mode that may or may not ever be noticed if the LP fails.

I guess I missed the point?

I thought we were talking about using the in-tank pump as the "pusher" to feed another LP further downstream???

Yeah... That was the question I brought up. I would think that the in-tank pump wouldn't be strained if it was pumping to another pump inlet. I am not talking about some giant fuel pump. I am talking about an additional small to medium pump.

From what I remember reading, the in-tank pump will push a lot of volume at lower pressures... since you only need to supply fuel to the second pump at anything over "zero" psi (so that pump is not pulling fuel), you should be fine using a second pump with the in-tank as a pusher.

I know most 2nd gen conversions used a Holley pump, but I can't remember if it was the blue, black, or red pump.

What would you gain? The in tank pump would still require the same effort. The pump works at 1 speed. It’s the motor in most in tank pumps that die; the mechanical parts are generally intact.

The side mounted Pump from FM is doing two jobs pulling and pushing, the in tank is only pushing. In theory it should last longer. Now run your tank down to empty regularly in the mist of hot summer and you will differently shorten its life. I cannot count the times I have heard “ I just ran out of Gas/Fuel last (- ) and Now the pump is out”.

i have been running the stock lp feeding another pusher pump (no draw straw), into the stock 7 micron filter, to my gdp 2 micron (w/ big line kit & no banjos) & see constant 20 psi. pull it down to 16-18 WOT but i have at least 10k on both filters. (gauge is after the 2 micron)

have been running this way for 2-3 years now.
