While under the dash for unrelated problem (no longer a problem), found a very warm component. Dont know if this a relay, fusible link or what. It looks just like a flourescent light starter except it has 3 male pushtype terminals . Only thing on it is 2 amp on the base. Dont think it should be that warm. Any help? Bob

Ignition Lamp Time Delay Relay

I think the devise that you are refering to is a time delay relay, that times the light up ring around the ignition switch. Looks like it has a small heating element and a bi-metal spring contact.

I keep burning myself on the stupid thing, I think it looks kind of like a flasher. Have been wondering what the heck that thing is.

Thanks Neil & mprtrpr ---- Guess its supposed to be hot and I thought it was a flasher too when I first saw it . mprtrpr I have been watching your posts, looks like you really have your truck in shape. Maybe I'll get you to help me pull my trailer over Cerro next time im up there. Thanks again Bob

Anytime, I'll be installing my B&W turnover gooseneck when I get back from vacation. When you get up this way let me know, maybe we can do some hunting.

Mprtrpr--Havent hunted up there in 6 or seven years, getting to old I guess. Hunted 7N mesa on the plateau a few times, also De'Beque, Delores, Hamilton Mesa out of Dry Basin and others. Really enjoyed it . They may kick me off here for talking hunting. ---------Later Bob

Hey Neil------think you are right about the timer,I pulled it and no light around switch ring. Was wondering if you know the location of the timer for the seat belt buzzer and light. My buzzer will continue untill I hook the belt and light never goes off. Seems like both used to be timed. Thanks --Bob

Combined Buzzer

Bob the seat belt warning buzzer, headlamp warning buzzer and key in buzzer are all combined into one unit. It is located on the right side of the steering column. Now if it is removed it will stop the seat belt alarm and idiot lamp, but you will no longer have headlamp warning or key in warning.

You may try disconnecting the seat belt switch as it is a normaly closed circuit, all being well this should shut off the lamp and buzzer.

Thanks Neil --I'll check it out as soon as it cools off a little. Its too darn hot to get out from under this air conditioner. Bob
