Yes, but could you pull with this power? Original poster wanted good solid pulling power.

no, but if you want to pull with 450hp on a 215 12v, you don't need to completely race build the engine...

hang an HT3B or K31 under the stock HX35 turbo, install head studs, injectors and fuel plate... enjoy

WPeschel,

Here's what I run and have no issues at all;

98 12V Qcab 4x4 5spd long box 3. 54gears - with the following mods. ,

5" lift 35" tires, #10 fuel plt. , DDP stage 3 inj. , 3K gov. springs, timing @16*, BD exh. brake, BHAF & 4" exh. (no muffler, no drone issues), KDP dead. , and the 13" SB Con OFE clutch.

Stock cam, turbo and head.

Truck dynoed in Oct. /07 350hp & 968ft/lbs.

I tow between 9-12,000lbs quite often and have no issues with heat or maintianing speeds on highways. Even in the summer through the rockies I have no issues with EGT's as the highest I have seen is 1150* to 1175* (55-60 MPH). My rear diff. and transmission temps will reach 192* & 200* respectively under prolonged hill climbs. While towing, no surging and max boost sustained boost 27-32psi (I can max my boost to 39psi)

I am very aware that I am over-spooling the turbo and am looking at upgrading, but it has all worked well with out any issues for the last 5 years - 100,000miles.

Best of luck with yours :),

ford lists that in 98 its truck made 215 hp (even with thier 21. 7% larger displacement) THE SAME AS THE DODGE. I tow and dragrace ,IF the ford was better I'd own one. I've had to give them 1 1/2 sec. in brackets and to this day haven't been passed towing by even the newest ford and I by no means have the baddest Dodge around. I do think one overlooked part so far is the exhaust manifold, it is sure to need replacing to tow with 400hp.

man, talk about coming out of left field

My point exactly... .

For years with my 12v all I did was a 16cm non gated exhaust housing and a TST #10 plate. The truck made 330hp at the rear wheels with over 800 ft lbs of torque, was driven daily, towed with on weekends and had no egt issues. The 12v Dodge can be make power to tow with with bolt on parts and NO purpose built engine.

He must have, He is from Pennsy

Careful. .

I will come up and remove that intake bolt we all found missing that day In CT and lower your HP again,LOL... ..... Andy

What delivery valves are you running, and what hp rating are them DDP III's??

I towed a GCVW of 22-25K regularly with a 93 several years ago. I didnt break any speed records (65-70 was about it), but it pulled hills fine (lost <10mph up a 5% grade), with stock 1stGen injectors and turbo. I tuned the pump, then installed a 12cm housing, along with gauges. EGT topped at 1200, boost in mid-upper 20s. Point is, to pull 16-20K, you may not need 350-400hp. Just make sure you have plenty of air and the exhaust to evacuate it efficiently.

Really don't need it....

I have a #5 plate stock position, 4" exhaust, and custom intake, I pull mostly mountains, estimate power to be in the 300 range. There is no mountain I cannot pull with 6-10K behind me and NOT break the speed limit. If you are on a pass with a couple thousand foot drop on one side, and a mountain on the other, with 10,000# behind, it is the last place you need to be going 30MPH over the speed limit... . But you can! I have done eighty over nice little hills (7-8000') without generating too much heat. Just be careful you don't want to run into the mountain, if you are lucky you go over the cliff... . Arlo... .
