Like the title says, what's needed? The 1990 rad is ready for attention but I also have a leftover rad from a 1993. Is the 93 better as it is bigger? If so, what is needed to put it in a 1990 that had a brass rad?

Thanks!

Robert,

When my son and I swapped out the existing engine out of his '90 Dodge Cummins for a '96 engine we used a '93 radiator. So we picked up a '93 core support, radiator, condenser, intercooler, etc. , etc. The radiator is larger so I would have to say it coolers better, it's a cross flow vs a down flow. GW

Top and bottom mounts for the cross flow is what is needed. Those may be a bit difficult if they did not come with the rad. Relatively easy to put in if you can fab things a bit.

The cross flow supposedly cools better with the diesel engine. The early trucks had the potential for heating issues with the older style rad so it was changed.

The 93 radiator you have would be a good bomb, maybe even the intercooler if you still have that. It might be bigger then your Banks? Intercoolers restrict boost so bigger is better. Dodge went to the bigger radiator with the intercooler since it adds heat to your air flow. I think your radiator is two core while the crossflow is three. I would think since you have pieces and parts from the 93 that it would be fairly easy.
