What is needed to be safe running 5X5 on my Edge Drag Comp Chip. I was interested in doing an allison transmission swap but not sure what is needed to do it.

4 inch MBRP turbo back, Bhaf, and a fuel pressure gauge. Been waiting for rpm outlet to send me my pyrometer gauge so I can install my A pillar gauge pod I have my trans temp and boost but don't want to install it until I get my pyrometer so that I can do it all at once, got clearance lights as well but don't know who to get to install them.

It's really a question that only you know the answer to if you consider a few things.

Your driving style

Application for the truck

Level of self-control

If you drag race at every stoplight or tow a lot, you're going to start finding the weak links pretty quick. If you take it easy, it might be a while.

A transmission upgrade is definitely one you will not regret.

"I have over 20k on the swap now and it has been awesome. I love everything about it. It shifts great, the ratios are perfect and I have yet to slip it. "

Not saying that's what you would have to pay to go the Allison route, but it's not a basic upgrade so the investment will be significant no matter how you choose to get it done.

I can only imagine your Allison swap would cost a lot of money. If you have the $$$ then do what you want.

or you could go through Goerend Bros, DTT, ATS, Suncoast ... and get their torque converter and valve body. I know of a lot of guys running those setups and they are very happy - i am one of them ( i went Goerend Bros. )

Apprx. $1200 for triple disk tq converter, 4-$600 for valve body, and apprx. $600 for install by a good transmission shop = a transmission that will hold over 600 hp - and not slip. If you are looking to make that kind of power you will need to think about billit shafts.

I am at that point now. Do i get the billit input/output shafts now? or play the waiting game and keep my fingers crossed?
