Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What Is Part # For Rear Output Seal On Tranfercase?

I went to Napa to get a new seal for my transfer case. It is The rear output seal. They told me there is 2 part numbers. The one they sold me is Napa # 18999. It doesn't look like the same as the one that is one there now. He showed me another one that had a boot on it wich looked like the one I have. But he says its smaller.

So I want to be sure that part Napa number 18999 is the right one. Or is it the wrong one?

the 18999 is the one that fits but i believe the oem seal with the rubber boot is better for keeping dirt etc. away from the seal. napa also showed me the smaller seal with the boot,,must go on a 1/2 ton or something. i got about 40k out of the napa 18999 before it started to leak and replaced it with the oem seal 1-04746258.

I put the bootless napa seal in awhile back, havn't had any problems. The main thing the boot will protect you from is if you get twine or wire wrapped around your driveshaft, gives the seal an extra measure of protection.

There have been alot of changes with Transfer case seals and one speculation is that alot of these parts stores are dumping the old ones (that don't work) to make way with the new.



Anyhow the Mopar part number I used is 5086054AA

I put one in last week used a National 4741 it had the dust boot and cost me $13 at the parts store may have been cheaper from a bearing house, Also used National 710058 ($8) for the 5 speed trans output to transfer case seal. This was in a One Ton with the HD box.
