There was an article in the paper yesterday about a new Diesel Performance Shop opening here in town. Saidd they specialized in Propane Injections for diesel pickup trucks. I had never heard of that before. What is a Propane Injection??

propane = fun!!!

Go get propane and it will be a LOT easyer to break the 500hp wall. Go get it, you won't be sorry, drugs are fun! :D :cool:

Basicly they cool whats going into the intake, and it "pops" or combusts like the fuel does, only it's a little bigger "pop". Remember the old gas rule of, "The more COLD air, the more hp. . " kinda the same idea.

The way I understand it is the propane acts as a "catalyst" for the diesel fuel and allows better combustion. Beyond that someone else will have to chime in. I do know that at Dyno Day last saturday my friend dynoed 455 or so with #2 and 523 by adding propane. Also know of 2 cases where propane was the cause of blown head gaskets but it may have been set real high too, these guys play hard.

I think the consensus is that unless you are drag racing or going for high dyno numbers leave the propane alone unless you like engine damage. It was a hot bombing mod for awhile that faded away...

If anybody gets Trailer Life magazine ( Dec. 2000 issue) there is a good artical about propane injection in it. Called Torque Pro 2000 made by ATS. It was showing a 32% increase in fuel economy and 45% less time going from 40 to 60 mph. Larry

Less smoke on the travel trailer, lower EGT's like HVAC said... hammer it up the mountains in the left lane with the trailer flapping behind ya. Downside: a BBQ size tank goes fast, none left to cook your steaks when you get to the campground. I need a bigger tank. I've got one of those big rural-style tanks out back of my house, for the gas logs fireplace. I think it'll fit in the truck. :D But I'm not crazy enough to try it. BOOM! :D

I have a powershot 2000, on for about 10,000 miles now and put about 20 forklift tanks thru it, on the highest setting (i use it alot) No Problems :)

I have tried propane injection, and the increased mileage is BS. Without the propane, on my old truck, I got 17 on the highway. With propane I got 17, BUT if I included the propane used, I got 11. The extra power was nice, but not worth the extra hassle. I took it off after 2 weeks.
