I keep hearing about the 98 or 98. 5s which people say is the best of both worlds, but why is this so? I was looking at a 98 with a 24v in it today, is this that elusive truck?

Thanks for the explanations guys

12V shortbed is a good combo for some.

I think the quadcabs suck. Doors are helpful but their is less room in the backseats compared to the club cab. Plus IMO the dashes in the 94-97 trucks look cleaner

Thanks guys, that would explain why we haven't found any shortbeds on the earlier 12v. I also like the look of the 12v interior, but it probably wouldn't bother me too much if I had to get used to a newer truck :)

I've sat in the back of both, and while I realize there's a size difference on paper, I was hard pressed to notice it. In fact, at 250 lbs. & 6'2" , I would prefer a door to let my big *** in if I had to ride in the back. Oh, and my dash rules.

So to wrap it up, I think the clubcabs suck. :D

I have a 98 club cab longbox 12 valve I may sell with 150k on it... . any takers pm me. price is gonna be around 16,000

I personally hate the 94-97 dash. Its ugly, and the cupholder always gets the radio wet. Plus, I like the seats/seatbelts in the quad cab better. And the position of the humongous tweeter in the door on the infinity systems sucks. I agree that the space difference between the QC/CC is minimal. Having had both, it is un-noticeable to me. It is MUCH MUCH easier to actually use the back seat of a QC though, with the doors. Also, the elusive model is not the longbed, but the shortbed as mentioned.

They are hard to find, but not impossible. BTW, there are two 98 quad cab 12V's for sale locally, both automatics, one shortbed one long. The shortbed is almost identical to mine (SB QC 12V 4x4 Red sport) except its an auto. Its clean.

The elusive one, is a '98 12v, 5spd, QUAD-cab, longbox truck

Even more rare than that, is a 98 12v, 6 SPEED, quad cab Longbox. I think I own the only one in the state of TX. The only thing about it, is when you go to get parts, you have to remember to tell them it is a 5 speed, otherwise they look at you and scratch their head. .

BTW, I love the dash in the 98-2002 trucks! Wouldnt trade it for the world!
