Go to your local Cummins Northwest and get a stratopore made by fleetguard. I think the # is 3494 or something very close to that.

I know you can use the 24v filters on the 12v trucks, just not the other way around. The only difference in them is the case. The 24v trucks run higher oil pressuer and they had to thicken up the case so it would hold the press.

CC,

The Stratapore is the one to use on all. It's a better filter than the one that came stock on the truck or the Microglas. The case is stronger than the Microglas because the 24 valve engines have an oil pressure spike on startup that would damage a Microglas. The Stratapore filters better. I get mine at the local Peterbilt shop for $7. They sell and recommend them for all these 5. 9 engines.

Ok question on the microglass filters. I went to Cummins last weekend and tried to pickup some stratopore filters. Cummins said that they were on backorder and that all they have are the microglass/stock filters. So I picked up 2.

So Joe, are you saying not to use these cause they can get damaged on a 24v? If so why would Cummins sell them to me when they knew it was going on a 24valve??? I'm confused.:confused:

I dunno why they would sell them to you. It was a big problem when the 24 valve engines first came out. It didn't happen to everybody so you might be ok. I would sure watch it. Get hold of some of the 24 valve guys that have been on here a while. They would know the details a lot better than me. All I know is what I read on these forums. :D:D Combine that with my great memory and, well you know... :(

I get Stratapore's for my 97 at the Case-IH dealer. They're black, and say "Micro-loc Ultra" They're made for Case-IH by Fleetguard. Can't remember the #, but you'll recognize it. They use the same engine in some of their tractors.

K-Arts, I ran the Microglass several times on my 24V trucks. But because they filter more finely than the Stratapore they "plug up" more quickly and should not be run more than 3000 miles.
