Hey guys-

I'd like some brighter lights. Other than the sport lights being unfluted, what is the difference to the regular ones? What else do I need other than the sport headlight assembly to do a conversion?

Erik

I was going for some bulbs tonight guess I'll cancell that idea. Thanks for the tip. I will do the fog light mod in the morning.

Outboard bulbs are 9007's (55/65) and inboard bulbs are 9004's (45/65). In the OEM configuration, only the outboard low filaments burn when low beams are selected and only the four high filaments burn when high beams are selected. Also, the OEM configuration uses a relay for the inboard high filaments, taking a bit of stress from the POS OEM headlight switch.

You will also need a harness for the four bulbs and some minor, non-cosmetic Sawzall work to make room for the extra bulb base.

These lamps really come alive with the Wiring Harness/Brite Box Combination from Baker Auto Accessories and the fogs-on-with-high beams modification shown on this page at the great Dave Fritz site.

Some have even made up their own harness that mimics the Brite Box.

If you're okay with after-market lamps, ImportVision Motorsport (not too far from you at the west end of the Simi Valley) sells a pair for $210.

Here is the sheet metal work you will have to due to your '96. I used a small jig saw.

Hey Thomas and the rest, thanks for the replies.

So all i need to purchase is the new mopar sport light buckets or aftermarket buckets and a quad headlight brite box conversion, the bulbs and im done after some cutting? Or, do I need any other wiring stuff?

Thanks

Erik

Has anyone used the ImportVision Aftermarket headlight lens? Whats the quality of them? Any problems with moisture leaking into them?

Where can i get a brite box from also :)?

ps. So with a brite box, both low beam filaments on each side will operate with headlights on? And when i need high beams, everything will be on?

Thanks

Erik

Not sure on the Import Vision, I got the DEPOT brand . I swapped out the rubber welting that came with the lights as the new rubbers were crap. I kept my origanal rubbers.

One other thing. If you aren't able to complete the change over in one day and need to drive the truck you can just swap 2 pins on the origanal sockets and it will fit and operate the 9007's correctly with no other mods. This will allow the use of your headlights if the need arises

Import Vision lamps are Depo. Many (most?/all?) aftermarket Sport lamps are Depo.

Ditto on reusing the OEM welt.
