Two months ago I purchased my 03 CTD, QC, 4x4 truck and the sales guy told me it had the 305hp 550 footpound CTD engine in it. I have since gotten a build sheet from the parts guy at the dealership and it shows the engine to be the ETC version. I am assuming this is the same as the CO engine I see here on the forums. So can someone enlighten me as to what the difference is between the ETC and ETH engines are, and what are the hp and torque figures for my engine?

I know I probably sound like a dummy (hmmmm, could be!) but this is my first diesel and I want to learn all I can about it so I can take care if it right.

Thanks,

Alan

Thank you gentlemen, I knew you would have the answers. That is why I am glad I found this site, the people here are the greatest!

Well, according to the data sticker riveted to the intake, it is the 250 hp engine. Oh well, I will get the Edge EZ and gauges installed this weekend and that will take care of that problem!

Thanks again for the help guys!!

I think I would be a little more upset myself, I chose the SO motor more because of transmission options but never like being told I'm buying one thing and getting another!

Well, I was disappointed to say the least, but I can't afford to buy a new truck so I might just as well be happy with the one I have, which I am. I really do like the truck and it still does whatever I want it to do, so I will just bomb it a little. Maybe I will bomb it a lot! It is a cool truck either way, wouldn't trade it back for my Chevy 454 for nothing!!!

That was my thought when getting the SO, in 03 I would have had to pay out over a grand more to get the HO with a trans I did not like. My thought was a grand in BOMB's and i'd be ahead of the game!

Don'cha love 9 mpg on that 454? :D :D :D :D

Yeah, it was a good truck, had the Banks Power Pack and would pass anything on the road but a gas station. On a good day, going down hill, with a tail wind, I got 5 - 6 mpg towing and under the same conditions 10 - 11 empty. Now I get 15. 7 towing and 22 empty. Hmmm, now why did I get rid of the Chevy. . .

Oo.

Yeah, now that I know what engine I have I can start stashing some bucks away for all the things I need (?) for the truck. Still, it pulls better, rides better, and gets much better mileage than my 96 454 Chevy did. This is my first Dodge truck and I wonder why I didn't get one sooner, MUCH sooner!!
