What is the lowest true mileage first gen you've seen?

Wow 39,000 miles is the lowest I've seen. This truck is cherry and looks stock with the exception of Greenleave's front springs lolol

Pretty nice rig. I usually don't believe any mileages on any old Dodges. Too many things in the equation can be manipulated. But that does look to be a VERY low mileage 1st gen, quite SWEET. Possibly a true 39k mile rig, but I wouldn't pay a huge premium, especially from an ebay dealer of all people, when most of us consider a less than 150k mile 1st gen a low mileage one. You can get as much - in quality, for a higher mileage - proven, 1st gen cheaper than I bet the reserve on that rig.



But to answer your question. I have looked over a 88 Dodge Cummins, the first one built for that matter, or should I say first one to roll off the assembly line, at the Cummins MidRange Engine plant in Walesboro, IN. Shown in a recent TDR magazine. 2wd 727 auto, about 40k original miles.

I saw two of my trucks as show room new but it has been so long I can't even remember them that way. Old blue at just about 480k ain't no looker but I wouldn't hesitate to get in her and drive wherever there is a road.



A question I have is would any of us first genners pay the price for a brand new truck. We are accustomed to paying around ten for a 'just broke in' truck' that will return years of service. A spanking new truck would have to run right at forty grand now. That ebay truck is really nice looking and no doubt is a bargain at any price under ten. But heck, my buddy just had his painted and it looks like a million as well.

Last summer I found a 92 D250 on Autotrader.com. It was in Napierville, Il at a Dodge dealer. It was reported to be 38k, and a one owner (aren't they all?) I contacted Flightmedic (anyone heard from him lately?) who travels by there going to work. He stopped in and test drove it. Said it was supposed to have been a retired mechanics truck. He called me while test driving and said it was just like a showroom model.



I asked him to see if they'd take a downpayment until I could get out there to pick it up. I said I'd wire him the money. He asked, and they said they don't take downpayments (huh???) He also offered to give them a downpayment right there on the spot. No deal.



I talked to the saleman and he said I should send the entire amount ($7800) and he'd hold it. That is, if it was still there when my check arrived. No deal.



I sure would have loved to have seen and driven it, but my ex-Navy sense of getting ripped off was tingling to much.

Last summer there was a 92 D350 west of here that had 70k on it. One owner truck. It was used to pull a camper to FL every fall and come back in the spring. It was kept in a garage all the time. It also had a kelderman air ride under the back. Asking price was 12k at that time.

I bought mine with 35k on it, in theory. I believed it when I picked it up, but I have run into a few things over the last 2 years that have told me different. I don't worry too much, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Maybe he had money enough to replace the original seats to start with. Even brand new they aren't too spify. I don't know if you ever tried to nap in one of the bucket seats. As the seat back folds down, it leaves a hump that by morning feels like you slept with a stone under your lower back.



You would have to really look the truck over to feel comfortable with the claim of low mileage.

We have a 93 at work with 61K on it. It is by no means a one-owner cream puff though :-laf . Still a very good truck though. My truck had 85K on it when I bought it in Feb of '04.

I just recently picked up a donor truck for my Crew Cab conversion with 44k miles. Its a '92 W250 with automatic. Doing a Carfax, the mileage seems to be true. It was hit in the drivers door/cab and fender... . hard enough to tweak the frame.
