I paid $32,444 for a loaded 01 that was on the dealers lot for a while, it listed for 38,209. It took 2 months of haggling to get this deal, I think the reason I was able to get this deal is another dealer had a customer that was interested, he wanted the sale. I think I did OK -- anyone else??

I want to buy an 03 and get a educated deal.

I would prefer to see real world numbers -- sticker price and purchase price -- I get the impression that the dealer sets the invoice price at whatever he feels like, do all dealers have the same invoice price ?? if so what percentage of of list is invoice price??

All you have to do to get the real invoice is go to Kelley Blue Book site and price your new vehicle. Then just compare to what the dealer shows you and you'll know. It shows MSRP and invoice for every option also.

2003 quad cab 2x4 3500 5 speed DRW SLT

dealer asking price:$38,692. 42

Purchace price:$33,492. 88

That is $5199 off of sticker. That is about 13% off of sticker price.

The invoice was $33,575. 88 which leave me at $83 under invoice.

My 03 listed out @ 40505. 00 I paid 35848. 00 or 316. 00 under Invoice. If you add 1000 rebate that comes to 34848. 00. Not too bad for an 03 3500 Quad Dually 4X4 SLT HO w/6 speed, 4. 10 gears, fog lights, trailer package, + a handful of other options. :D

My '03 3500 QC SLT Sport Dually 4x4 Laramie with every option but heated seats (Florida!), Auto, listed at $44,090. After a few minutes of haggling I left with the truck at $37,300 or $100 over invoice. Of course he still has a holdback of $1200 coming to him. Let me qualify this by saying I represent the dealer and I get good deals with little or no haggling. (I also billed him for the time I did spend haggling!!) :D

Mine listed for $36,000 and I paid $28,500. Dealer still had 6 2002's on the lot so that helped with the deal. If you want to wait until the 2004's start coming out I am sure you too can save another $1000 to $1500 like I did :D

Go to www.markroberts.com and you will see the actual invoice from DC on ever truck they have. All invoice prices on these have matched up with kelley blue book (www.kbb.com) so you should know what the invoice price is before you buy!!!! Just a note: at the bottom of the DC Invoices there is a number that looks like this: HB125000 This means hold back on that vehicled is $1250. 00. That is what they will make if you buy at invoice. Plus, supposedly there are other bonuses and such that they get if they sell enough vehicles... etc...

Mine had a sticker price of 41,540. 000. Dealer sold it to me for 37,193. 00. Then I got 2,000. 00 in rebates plus a "Jake brake" for $299. 00 installed. (Jake brake has not come in yet, but has been ordered. Bottom line before taxes was 35,193. 00

OK Dieselman,, Come On Down, Its time to play the price is right.

$39,890 List, $34,980 Invoice ( Chrome Book ) Traded a 2001 2500 V10 and $7,800 cash difference:D + $9400 payoff on my trade in. TTL extra.

High Kelly Blue Book was $19,800 - name withheld gave me $24,000 ( resold same day, same price )

Soooo, The Actual Retail Price, $31,800

Helps to have a dealer who's a friend! I still had to whine a lot! The favor should be due and payable anytime now...

His Final Profit on the deal -$0- :( And I believe him.

Just bought two of them for my company. Got both at invoice, minus $1,000 rebate and minus $300 commercial discount. Total $1,300 under invoice. Not as good as the $3,000 under invoice on three 2002's a few months ago, but they are one model year younger.

prices

Well, I don't know what the dealers actually make on the sales. I have a contact that goes to auctions, and he told me that one could get an 03 quad 4x4 diesel fully loaded for $26800 cash. I have no reason to doubt him on his figures since he buys and sells diesels for a major part of his income.

Nathan, ask your friend if it also comes with a salvage title? :-laf

Take MSRP times . 8611744 ... ... that should be an accurate price for a new DR Heavy Duty

so for example

41210 x 0. 8611744 = 35488. 00

that includes rebate by the way

I just ordered my 03 tuesday night.

MSRP - $38,865

Invoice - $34,592

My offer - $33,750

minus (current) rebate - $32,750

minus FB discount (dealer is signing me up) - $32,250

Final price - $32,250

I was pretty happy w/that...

The invoice price you are shown is just that, the price the dealer would pay if he purchased one truck from DC. They get substantial breaks when they order several trucks at a time... . this is how certain dealerships in certain areas seem to consistently get all the business..... they can lowball and still make more money in volume. Just look in the paper every weekend at the loss leaders that are advertised. They aren't selling them at much of a loss if any, probably losing hold back or bonuses just to get customers in the door and move the truck. This probably explains Nathan's contact who can get a new rig for a low price.
