Last year went out with a BANG!! & misc ramblings....

WARNING - If you don't like arguements, don't enter!

I was watching some Euro Mountain Racing today on Speedworld. It sure looked exciting, those little cars whining around those snowy mountain trails. Some of them sounded like they had 2 cycle engines, with exhaust popping through downshifts in the corners.

I noticed some of the cars had a ring below the steering wheel and couldn't figure out what it's used for. The drivers seemed to squeeze the ring when they downshifted, so I thought maybe it worked the clutch. Can anyone fill me in on that?

Doc, I think its the shifter. I noticed not all of them have it some of them have a stick on the colum or floor. I think the clutch is solenoid acted or something... they shift so much it would wear the drivers leg off i think :D

I have been watching them all day I can't get enough of it :D

The racers use a ratchett shifter type trans. I believe that the pop that you hear is that the shifting cuts the engine momentarily while the shift is clutchless. This is my guess. Those guys have some real 8@lls!!! I would sure like to go on a Mr. Toads Wild ride with one of them:eek:  Chris
