Hello to the TDR and all the users! I have been reading the board for at least 3 weeks and have already BOMB'd my truck! What I was wanting to know was what is the normal range of boost at WOT on a stock system? Right now I am seeing 16 to 17 PSI max, and when cruising on a flat surface no boost at all. It does pickup to about 10 psi on a incline sometimes less. Is that what I should be seeing?:confused:My EZ should be hear tomorrow. Thanks to Andy at ADT. :D

CB, when my ETH was still a virgin, the best I could get was maybe 19 psi's, this being at WOT in either 5th or 6th gear and climbing a good grade. After I installed the EZ and the boost elbow, my top psi's were around 28 or so. Hope this helps !!!

Cbrandt, I'm assuming you have analog gauges. With digital I see about the same as you 17/18. However, when I check the max value stored, it shows 21. So I'm reaching it, the truck just isn't needing to hold that much boost on. You have to have the engine under a load to reach max boost in the stock configuration. Running through the gears, empty, I don't start seeing the high boost numbers until 5th and 6th. With a trailer I'll see them in 4th. Yours sounds normal. As always, check your hose clamps and intake manifold bolts for proper torque. Sometimes you'll lose some there. Cruising down the road, you should be seeing some boost. Like at 70 on the Interstate, you should probably see 6/8 lbs constant. If you are seeing zero or lower than that, check your hose to the gauge and make sure it's snug and not crimped.

BTW, on my 98 (12V) the most I could ever get was 18.

On my 99 before the EZ 18 was normal. It spiked once at 20-21. With the EZ I have seen spikes of 27. Most times it will max at 25 when I really get into it. I've hit 27 when I'm cruising at 65-70 and then punch it. You will really like the EZ box.

Update: My boost is measured at the intake plenum(horn)

33psi with RV Injectors

My boost has always run high compared to what others report. Stock it would hit 20, but after the boost elbow & boost module I'd hit 25-27psi every time I mash the throttle--STOCK injectors and NO box. With RVs it jumped to 31-33psi; now with DD2s it walks right up to and a bit past the 35psi mark (where my gauge ends). I don't know how far adding a box would take it  This is stock (straightpiped) exhaust & Amsoil filter, & fuel line mods.

EMD, I forgot, ETH right. Are you running analog gauges? Like I said, with digital, I don't see it hit 20 empty, but it's doing it, cause it stores the peak. Now, if I'm loaded I can hit 20 with no problem and see it. That's all I'll see cause I run the factory elbow.

I see a max of 21psi with the Hot PE off and see a max of 34-36psi with the Hot PE in Level 3. This is with the clutch slipping and stock injectors.

I checked my turbo hose clamps a couple of months after I got the truck and 3 of them were loose. I didn't have a boost gauge on then to see if it made a difference but it felt like it did. Now I check the clamps at every oil change. Just be careful not to over tighten as you could split the hose.

Good Luck in your BOMBING.

Important question....

Where did you tap in for your boost gauge? What location???? At the turbo? The plug by the fuel filter? The intake horn?

Stock for me was roughly 18psi or 19psi.

With my PE turned off I could hit 25 or 26psi easily (no addtional fueling other then stock) and turned on I could run it to 30psi. But I have the HY35 with the hardlined wastegate and I merely used a spring to slow down its opening. 30psi worked great for me. My gauge is tapped into the intake horn. Everyone else listing your numbers please also identify where your gauge is taking its reading from!

Mine is tapped into the Intake Horn also. The 21psi was without the boost elbow installed and Hot PE turned off. I'll check later and see if it is any higher than 21psi w/ Hot PE off and Boost Elbow installed.

Anyone adjusted the set screw on their Boost Elbow inward? Anyone see any change in performance adjusting this screw? I haven't touched the set screw on mine since the install.

I have had a few Over-Boost fault codes come up, especially in the early morning hours when I was running late for work. Would turning the set screw inward help prevent me from getting these faults?

At the Intake Horn

I see 22 and on a long pull I will see 23 psi and 1200 F on the EGT

all I have is straight pipe and a K&N 0880 & 25-0880

Maybe this is why I had to have a new clutch at 11,500 miles :D

Yep the intake horn!

Update! Just installed the Edge EZ. I can hardly contain my excitement!!!!:D:D Everyone who has a stock 24 Valve on this site should make this one upgrade (Add a EZ or similar to your truck). And don't tell me you will after the warranty either! You will have another truck by then! This has been the best thing I have done to date. I can't wait to tow the 22' trailer. Also boost is now up to 27 psi. EGT are lower than stock at WOT by 150 or more (no bull). I did notice my air cleaner gauge has move some (35% mark). I will change it tomorrow and see if boost goes up. I think it will. All my buddies are wide eyed now after they drove it BOMB'd. The truck hauls at only 1/4 throttle and boost goes up to 16 psi at that level. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. Now I want some injectors!!!! Those of you still on the fence get off it! Your butt would feel lots better!:D

Very happy in Alaska!

I feel like a kid at Christmas!!!

Geez, I don't remember the stock numbers, nor the feel.

It has been a long road, not without a few potholes, but I love the feel of my bomb'd truck.

My guage tells me I am getting into the low 40's on boost, however I suspect a little inaccuracy in that, since I only have DDI's and a hot PE.

If you are on the fence, do your homework regarding protecting your expensive injector pump and then go for it!!!
