not entirely impressed
i rolled 80k miles today. Almost a month ago -- at 76k-- OEM clutch took the big crap. I only have mild mods but some say i still have those testosterone driven driving habits that some of us "damn kids" seem to have from time to time. After a lot of cussing, a friend - paid in beer and Pizza- and i had a centerforce dual friction installed. It was recomended by the local 4x4 shop, Southwest 4x4(thanks guys), that it would do well in my application, its limits being possible failure on the pulling track, but mine sees mostly roads and wet fields.
The centerforce is broke in and impressivly better than OEM, and with the same pedal.
i got this truck used but at only 26k at purchase, i cant really blame that one on the "guy before me"
I couldnt make a fair tourqu guess, but from boost pressure and towing ability, i would GENEROUSLY give mine 250 horse.
Am i suprised at the failure?-- No. I do think it should have made it at least to 100k though... . Dads is 100% stock with like 190k on.
my only dissapointment is that i had to spend the mony i saved for smoke stacks. Oh well, i guess ill get those on next spring...
ps-- gross weight about 23000- 24000# alot of times with the oliver 99 on the trailer. dad pulls the same loads i do, and before my truck came along in y2k he pulled both tractors to the shows and tractor pulls-- he could weigh nearly 30000# on any sumer weekend...
his is a `94 2wd 5 speed, 4:10 gear and stock 175 horse.
