I am looking at a first gen. 93, ctd (160/400), five speed, LE, dents on every body pannel, AC fan only on low, needs new tires, front end shakes 276k plus

most of this is not important to me but I an looking for all your oppinions on its value.

Thanks

Ted

I have a 91 with 250,000 miles 4x4 5 speed NV4500 that still has warranty good tires body strait but not pretty. $6500. 00 alot more new parts and alot of NAPA lifetime warrunty stuff.

I'd concerned with the front end shake. A rebuild of mine cost $1k. The price seems high but it is only worth what you are willing to pay. Anything can be fixed, just a matter of $$$.

Hi Ted

Kelly Blue book for a '93 in perfect condition is only $9110. I would not go over $5000 for what you describe. If the body is that bad how bad is the rest of it? Sounds like a "drive it till it dies" owner to me. Good Luck!

be patient

I would pass on it . that sounds way high. look around and be a little patient. I paid $2000 for my 93 ext cab loaded with 101000 miles on it at a company auction. If you just wait and look you will find a much better deal. copterdoc

I'd Pass too...

If the inside of the engine and drive train were taken care of like the rest of the truck, you probably are gonna be changing the oil for the 3rd time and the diff/transmission are going to be full of glue and shavings.

Not worth the effort. IMHO.

Too Much

That's too high based on my recent shopping. I just got mine for $9000, and it is in very nice condition, everything works, no dents, had 106K miles on it. It does have a P/S leak and a howling pilot bearing though.

I looked at one like you described and could have had it for under $5000 - from a dealer, and with a working snow plow.

Keep looking, you'll find a better deal. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. Copterdoc, If you come across another like your drop me a line. I am looking for something to push a plow, lift , soup up and drive places pick ups just should not go. i would flat bed it any way so bed does not matter. This thing is not is that bad shape and was cared for well. It is rough around the edges. Basicly fair condition according to Kelly Blue Book.

Where do you find trucks like have been described, your friends truck sounds great MGM.

Ted

In the local Truck Trader, there was a 1993 with 104k 4x4, auto, ext cab... one owner, and as clean as my 1998... it sold for $6999. To be honest there are quite a few diesels in this area for sale... and most are pretty decent in price. If you are really interested in used truck let me know and I can give you a list of trucks as I find them that I feel are a good price.

Finding a nice one is a little harder here in the rust belt. I figured on going South or West. The only reason I ended up with a nice one without travelling was because a local guy had this one and he has a bad foot and could no longer clutch. He bought a new Dodge with the Cummins and auto. Best part was I know the guy enough to know he takes great care of his toys - he is a Dodge nut. :D
