What is the virus doing in your area-try not to get political

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Pearl Harbor.

Christmas Lights 2020

If that is true, why do we have the high counts of cases and deaths, or does that just NOT bother you? How about how New Zealand faired with this pandemic? By the way American's health care is way down the scale compared to many other countries and it costs a lot more.

Ask a Canadian how much their FREE healthcare costs. While your at it ask how many people they know have had a hip or knee replacement.

I will take my healthcare any day.

The topic is now on thin ice. FACT.

I for one have both much appreciated and been impressed by how well TDR members have been able to keep this thread going WITHOUT getting hostile or political. I do not believe that would be possible on ANY other truck forum. It is simply a testament to the level headedness and maturity of TDR community in general !!!

That said, IMO it would be a shame that one member's inability to keep their political opinions to themselves when specifically asked to, would derail the opportunity for the entire membership to converse.

Well, I live on a remote base and only went to Wal Mart ONCE for something and caught Covid. Dont know if it was Wal Mart or possibly a delivered Amazon package but thats the only instance I had been around any amount of people. Regardless of how I got it, I have a few opinions...take them for what they are worth.
1. Unless people are coughing, sneezing spitting on you (they should be wearing mask) You wearing it is otherwise worthless. It is not a legitimate filter and it only acts to TRAP nasty things to hold them there until you eventually breathe it in. I'm not a Doctor but then, I really dont have to be. If it makes you feel better, by all means wear it. I still do just for other peoples sense of protection.
2. I'm Diabetic so I thought I would be in for a ride. First day was like a bad flu, cold chills and fever of 102.9. After that I kept a fever between 99.5 and 100.5 for twelve days. The flu I could normally sleep off and drink lots of fluid and be over in a day or two. I was tired but not sleepy with covid. I did not get much sleep over the normal amount. My oldest son is Asthmatic and my wife has a horrible immune system, she keeps a regular cold for 2 weeks. My youngest son had symptoms for 7 days, my oldest son about 10 days, myself 12 days and my wife about 3 1/2 weeks.
3. Covid affected us all different but none of us ever feared for our lives. I guess we should have since we all have jeopardized immune systems..but we didnt.
We all looked at it as another cold or flu you just get as much rest and liquids as you can and know your going to be ok. I'm convinced that people attitudes and how they view covid are deciding factors in how well they fair. The Brain is powerful, if you convince yourself your going to die or something is going to kill you, you have already lost the battle. I know people who are worried sick and one co workers sister has it, she was sure she was dead after getting the diagnoses.
4. This virus is too contagious and lives through the seasons. My opinion is we are all going to ride the lightning on this one sooner or later. Personally I would rather keep getting exposed to it to keep my antibodies up rather than let them disappear and get hit again, it may not be as "easy" as it was the last time.

Anyway, thats mine and my families experience, hope you all stay safe. If you do run into covid, keep your head up and positive outlook. Positivity trumps negativity no matter what we are dealing with.

DH, may I ask your age, and your severity of diabetes?
I appreciate you sharing your family’s experience. I’m also glad to hear that you’ve made it to the other side.

There you go getting political again !!!
JK LOL!!!
Sorry could not help myself given the context...seriously just kidding !!!

Glad that you and yours are feeling better despite having co-morbidities!!!

I will be 50 in February. I have type 2 diabetes which I could no longer control with just pills a few years ago. Insulin does nothing for me as I still produce plenty of my own, my body just does not recognize it. I now take Ozempic which has kept it under control. However, I had whats called "the dawn phenomenon" which is where your sugar level rises over night instead of dropping like it normally should. When I first got Diabetes my levels would be in the 90's when I woke up, with the dawn phenomenon it is 160 to 180 when I woke up and then would go down. I am not obese and became diabetic when I was 38. I had to talk them into testing me because "I didnt fit" the age and weight that they expected for diabetes.

Covid factoid: Covid actually helped my diabetes (for now anyway). After about day 3 I got cold sweats and started feeling really "off". I checked my blood sugar and it was 62! I had to eat some fast sugar to bring it up which is something I NEVER have had to do. Though my diabetes is controlled, for the past few years the lowest it gets is about 120. I actually had to stop taking my meds during covid to keep my sugar from cratering to dangerous levels. I have started taking the pills again but only half of the ozympic shot and my sugar levels are still staying in the 80's and 90's.
I dont get it, I do not understand, but I'll take it. (I recovered from covid the second week of October)

Yesterday I jumped on the trike and went to a NAPA store in Apache Junction to buy 6 quarts of Rotella T6 5w40 for an oil change on it(it takes 5.25 quarts and lubes the transmission with the same oil, one point fill with two drain points). 4 or 5 guys working the counters, myself and one other customer. I was the only one wearing a mask. I then rode over to Nash Motorsports in Mesa to get an expense quart of Can Am pre-mixed coolant and again employee's and customers without masks. Hopefully at some point everyone will start taking this virus seriously.

I wish you the best!

They are still in the learning period with this virus and that may go on for years. There is now a group of "recovered" covid patients being referred to as "long haulers" that have a myriad of hold over symptoms beyond those when the virus was active in their bodies.

I stopped at our local farm store Rural King a few days ago to pick up an online order. They had a sign on the door stating that they required masks. Directly inside the door were two employees handing out masks to customers if they didn't already have one. The various employees throughout the building would also remind customers to put their mask back on if they had taken it off.

I'm assuming that it was their store policy in order to comply with PA's mask mandate. But, they were definitely enforcing the wearing of masks.

I just did some reading on the side effects and risks of the vaccine. As described by specialists...not going to be a walk in the park and it is absolutely necessary to return for a second dose. My son explained the process in the vaccine and it had something to do RNA-DNA and causing the immune system to manufacture a covid protein that the immune system will recognize and produce antibodies. Any way you cut it, it's going to be a long haul.:(

The VA here is requiring masks. No mask, go away and you will have it cover your mouth and nose. You will be told if not following this guideline or be expelled.

Here in IL it is the states policy that you must wear a mask in any public establishment. It is up to the individual stores or other public institutions to enforce this policy. For the most part about 99% of the time people are wearing their mask and the public institution/business our making sure they do. But some people are not wearing them properly such as not covering their nose but only their mouth. This is not good as this does nothing to prevent the virus from being spread to others.

Yes remember the the mask is more important to be worn by the spreader than the receiver. I have seen people wearing N-95 models that have the outlet valve, which lets a spreader exhale the virus through the one way valve. So not wearing a mask means that you do not care to protect people around you.

I have a friend from Canada. He has been in the hospital many times at his home city. Last winter when my wife broke her leg very badly entering his car and ff to Surgery his wife had a heart issue and was in the Banner hospital in Casa Grande. Later he was asked how does our HP compare to yours at home. Answer was Banner was incredible to his Canadian HP.
