I don't trust the published stats'. I have an acquaintance that has tested positive-negative positive-negative in the last (almost) thirty days. got tested positive went back a week later negative and repeat again and never showed any signs of infection. I doubt the negative results are published or subtracted the the positive.

Were they rapid tests?

KT, I don't know. Is there a difference in terms of accuracy?

Yes, as I understand it, in order for the rapid test to detect the virus, you have to be "riddled" with it (which depends on your level of infection and/or how effective your immune system is). This means that false negatives are common. So if you test negative, you very well could still have it, but if you test positive, you most certainly do have it.

...and this has absolutely NOTHING to do with which media site you subscribe to....not sure how it would. o_O

I read a few different articles that all said the rapid test was around 60% accurate and the mail in / lab tests were about 95% accurate so huge difference between the two.

I don't think any of these test are that accurate!

My granddaughter has had three test done to determine if she had COVID19 two months ago. All three test came back negative. One was the rapid test and the other two where from the state run lab test here in IL. She had complained about lost of taste, could not smell anything and had a running nose! But no temperature was present. Her and her mom went in for testing at the drive up state's test site plus the doctors office when the state could not find any positive results. But the doctor told her that even though the tests came back negative, she still had a mild case of COVID19. She had recovered in a couple of weeks and is back to her normal self now. No one else in the family came down with COVID19.

My daughter also contracted Covid19, as a teacher from a student she thinks in her class. The state run test which is sent to a lab came back negative and the rapid test was positive. Go figure! This case too was a mild version of the virus, she is back to normal now, but her children must wait another two days before they are out of quarantine so, far no signs.
