Another '82 Mazda diesel in SoCal. w/106k found

so I was helping out some friends at a local recycling yard when i spotted this little gem. Can anyone tell me the year it was roughly made in? What the motor is and anything interesting about it? Its so ugly its pretty and i would like to know more about it if anyone has anymore info. Thanks!

The motor looks like a supercharged Cummins, but I can't tell which one by the picture. Can you get a shot of the intake side? The truck? Maybe a Federal Mogle (sp)? Maybe in the 40's?

yeah the next tiime Im out there I will hopefully get a pic of the other side. There was a bunch of equipment in the way this time, but maybe I'll just hike ontop of all the stuff and see if I can get a decent pic.

Thats a Euclid, i think a subsidiary of GM at one time. Lots of Ukes had Detroits in them, but this doesn't look like a Detroit motor.

Yep, thats a Euc! Engine is a Cummins, probably a 250 with a blower. My buddy has an Oshkosh with a 250 and blower, I love to drive it. It sounds way different, lots of blower noise and open pipe exhaust. :-laf Truck may be in the '60s, they didn't change the body much for years.

Wasn't the 250 with a blower called a 270? The prelude to the old 290? Great engine. The first tractor trailer unit I ever drove had a 250 in it. Smoked like it was burning coal. If it saw a hill coming it would slow down. When I "inherited" it, it had over 700,000 miles on it and I managed to put another 100,000 on it.

Looks like ya gotta dismantle the wheel bearing, just to get the wheel off?

Yup, the ol'e 275 w/ supercharger and back draft exhaust manifold was an awesome sounding rig. The 275 was 743 cubic inch motor, the 250 was an 855. Ya, it proly is newer than it looks. Those old off highway type trucks were kinda simple look'in.
