Looks more like bacteria than algae to me, either way its yucky. KILL IT!!

Whats the best to kill it with? Been running a bunch of Howe's Meaner Cleaner through it, but can't tell if it is actually doing anything or not. Don't seem to see as much of the algaecide/ bacteriacide on the shelves like I used too.

Yep, it's algae. We have had a HUGE problem with this in Air Force vehicles. Stanadyne or Power Service Kills it, but change that filter often!

The first thing I notice is the tag that says carb..... and I'm guessing you might be using a filter not rated for diesel... this could be nothing more than a reaction of the fuel and the adhesive thats binds the filter to the housing... . I'd go to where they sell truck filters, usually the housing is around 15 and the spin on filter is 8 or 10... . I use a 5 micron spin on high flow filter designed for hyd. oil... after all diesel is a grade of oil... . I change this filter every 50K miles... . the tank in the bed of our trucks is 120 gal... and we usually fill the main tank with 15 to 20 gal and 120 gal in the bed tank... . we use a small electic pump to pump the fuel through the filter to the main tank... .

Hope this helps... .

Anyone here ever try a product called " PRI-D" , pricey stuff, but reading the label makes it appear to be the strongest stuff I could find locally. Truck stops/ shops basically have the usual Lucas and Howes products.

I worked at a local shop that sells a product called Biocide and its made by Racor I believe. That stuff is made to kill algea and bacteria. Ive used it several times and it did the job very well on one treatment. Give them a call. 402-330-0580. Just ask for Randy.

Do you run waste oil throught your truck?

Me? No, not in the '03, it is my "work" truck. My '93 on the other hand sees all kinds of oddball "stuff" in its tank, and it never complains.

No, hes just around monday thru friday. Call anytime from 8am to 5pm central time. O ya and the shop is called Diesel Specialties.

You need to check your tank for water the fungus grows between the fuel and the water not in the fuel
