Is it true that the crap turns white/ grey when it dies off? Then what, just change filters till it is all gone? Put some stuff in the tank over the weekend I got from one of the local suppliers. now this morning when I emptied it into main tank, filter I just replaced had these white "chunks" of "stuff" in it, quite a bit I may add, this mean the stuff is disappearing? Have 3500 miles on the main filter in 2 weeks, still seems to run allright, might do a change on that tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

my humble opinion or statement this happens a lot to us on the ships I work on slack tanks and condensation breed this bacteria there are biocides to kill this stuff as stated above by others. the down side to using the biocides is it is very toxic use caution that includes when changing the filters I instruct my coworkers to wear gloves and resperatiors on the fuel that has not been run thru a purifier and after the fuel has been thru a purifier to still use gloves. that stuff the biocides are really bad stuff.
