Best companion!

Jacked about my "NEW" system

Roman Catholic, go to mass every Sunday most Holy days and Holidays such as Memorial day, Independence day and Thanksgiving. I'm an usher(20 years) and participate in the Live Nativity(last 15 years). My religion is the best gift my parents gave me.

Raised and Episcopalian. Dad was a priest. Guess that makes me a PK:)

At 18 became and agnostic... and later an atheist. So... ... been there, done that, no thanks. :-laf

For the past 28 years I've been a One god, apostolic, tongue talking, holy roll'n, born again believer in the liberating POWER of JESUS name :-laf I've been baptized in Jesus name, washed in the blood, filled with the Holy Ghost, believe Holiness starts on the Inside, and I'd invite you to experience the same relationship I've enjoyed.

Faithfully attend one of the Oneness Apostolic Pentecostals sects known as the United Pentecostal Church. Currently attending the Star Valley Apostolic Church in Alpine, WY that is 79 miles away. I use to attend the Apostolic Bible Church in Lander, WY that was 120 miles away until the Alpine church got started. Don't believe it is the name on the door, but the word that is preached and taught inside.

Bottom line is it has been without a doubt the best decision I've ever made. Not the easiest... but the best.

Church of Christ goer in the 80's as I followed my grandparents there. After they died I lost my drive and NO ONE ever even asked me were I had been..... like no one cared so I took a 12 year break.

Found a Church locally that is non-denominational back in 2002 and have been going there since, got Baptised (at 37) no long after I started there. This was the first time that anyone ever acted like they cared or taught me anything out of the Bible.

Absolutely love it and don't know what I would do without it or the people, attend weekly(Wed and Sun) and go on Sunday even if I'm up till 2:00 am Saturday night working on the truck, watching a movie or whatever.

Never, Never take away from my Tithe requardless and it always works out..... imagine that!

I'm a proud Missouri Synod Lutheran. The Lutheran Church does seem like it is being taken over by liberals. The Missouri Synod is trying to hold on to the old time, conservative ways though and thats why I like the Missouri Synod. My girlfriend goes to the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran) and they are becoming very liberal, almost to the point to where it's almost not like being at a Lutheran Church.

Some receive 'The Call' some don't, (will they go to Heaven?) I personally respect all Religions, but have witnessed dreadful results of Religious conflicts, where Religion was the only difference separating people of the same Race and economic Poverty conditions.

Ditto. Until your post I' was a little surprised to be the only LCMS'er on here.

Well finally a subject more controversial then Politics....

I was raised Methodist but have been a practicing Lutheran - MS - for 30 years..... my wife and I along with our adult children and grandchildren attend every week - are very active and I also attend an adult Bible Study that our Pastor leads... . it is great. (BTW he is an ex Military Chaplan).

You know some of the opinions expressed on the Political Board are not in keeping with Christ's most important commandments.....

Mt 22:36 “[Jesus], which is the great commandment in the law?” And he said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets. ”

also.....

God commands us to love.

Here are some key Scriptures (Bible verses) on loving your enemies:

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another (John 13:34).

But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you (Luke 6:27-28).

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse (Romans 12:14).

We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it (1 Corinthians 4:12).

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. " Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:17-21).

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing (1 Peter 3:9).

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble (1 John 2:9-10).

Our highest calling is to spread the Gospel and help others

I know I struggle very hard with these... but I can't help think that our leaders and many of us hear - and where we live and work - do not even begin to practice these things..... Many say they are Christians but "hate" people for being --- pick a topic - gay - or whatever. I can't help but think Christ may be testing us with the "gay" situation - to see how strong our faith really is..... Remember Christ loved all - and was sent to be with the sinners - all of us - not with the "Religious".
