Hello everyone, I have a 1998. 5 Cummins, quad cab, long bed, and my brakes are squeking all the time and i have to push harder on my brake peddle. Now comes the hard part with all these different kinds of brakes out there to but, which ones are the best to buy? I have heard people talking about brakes that are guarented for life and that don't ever squek. And then i heard that you can buy brakes that don't have brake dust. So, now what should i do? This is my first brake job since i bought this truck and need some information on which brake pads are the best for my truck. Thanks guys,
Nick

Try CarQuest - Had better luck with theirs for both shoes and pads. Don't think anything will eliminate dust from brakes. Bought a set of shields from Geno's for the front. They took care of the problem

I have had excellent results with CARBON METALIC pads . I got mine at AutoZone. .

Good Luck,

bigfoot , don't get me wrong , but thats not very promising , the brakes on my 98 1500 were horrible , i switch to a set of the expensive raybestoes , not that great , secong brake job put on the performance friction and they were better than stock by leaps and bounds , and i didn't touch the rotors , was trading in the truck and they were just starting to squeak , i should have put them on when i bought it . hopefully they are available for the '00 and newer i i'm ready to swap and they aren't even making noise at 34k miles , just 1 yr old .

i'm not trying to knock your experience , everyone is different , but i would like something better than stock , especially on a 99 or older .

The Best brakes on the market are made by Raybestos. They are called Raybestos Super Stop and are guaranteed for life. They have very little brake dust and sell in the $40 to $45 range. My brother recommended them to me years ago and I have been using them ever since. Very happy with them and you can feel the difference in the way they stop compared to stock pads. You won't go wrong with them!
